Open Mic Christian Night Compassionate Shepherd Ministries, 10771 N. Plaza Rd., Laurel, will hold Open Mic Christian Night on Friday, Aug. 3 from 7-9 p.m. Singers include Jim Dryden, Gloria Holland, Dean Adkins, Galen Queen, Connie & Allen, Virginia Tyler, Everett Hart, Mel Adkins and more. Everyone is welcome to come and sing. Admission and snacks are always free and a love offering will be taken. Open Mic is held the first Friday of every month through December. VBS at Church of the Nazarene Vacation Bible School: The Seaford Church of the Nazarene, 25667 Faith Lane, Seaford will hold their annual Vacation Bible School Aug. 6-10 from 6 to 8 p.m. This year's theme is Deep Sea Adventure. Children will explore the depth of Jesus' love through biblical lessons, songs, crafts, games, and more. Vacation Bible School is open to all children ages 3 through 5th grade. Dr. Mishoe to speak Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church, 28 Church St., Bridgeville, will celebrate the appointment of Dr. Wilma Mishoe as the eleventh and first female president of Delaware State University (DSU) at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 26. She follows the legacy of her father, Dr. Luna I. Mishoe, who served as president of DSU from 1960 to 1987. Dr. Mishoe will be the keynote speaker. There will also be representatives from the DSU admissions office to answer questions about applying to DSU. VBS at Wesley UMC Wesley UMC, located at 22025 Atlanta Road, invites all children going into kindergarten through grade seven to a sports themed Vacation Bible School, "Teaming Up with Jesus, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on July 31-Aug. 3. Join the church for crafts, snacks, recreation, and Bible lessons. A special service for the children and families will be held on Sunday, Aug. 5 at 10 a.m. A church covered dish picnic will be held after the service in the Wesley Community House. Men/Women Day The Annual Men/Women Day will take place on Sunday, Aug. 19. The messenger at 11 a.m. is Elder Arthur Doakes from Rehoboth Temple in Laurel. The messenger at 3:30 p.m. is Rev. Jean Briggs from Mt. Calvary AME in Seaford.

VBS for Mentally Challenged The BSSP Program at Christ Lutheran Church, located at 315 N. Shipley St. in Seaford, will host its summer Vacation Bible School program on Aug. 6-10 for mentally challenged youth and adults. The theme is "Splash Cannon". Students will sing, pray, and learn through five Bible stories about how God keeps his promise through life's wild ride. A light dinner will be served from 6-6:30 p.m. Class is from 6:30-8 p.m. Bible stories will be told by a storyteller, along with puppets, music, games, and crafts. Joy on the Camp Ground The John Wesley Annual Camp presents "Joy on the Camp Ground" on Saturday, July 28 from 11 a.m. until. The event will take place at 804 3rd Street in Seaford. There will be ministry through music, food vendors, praise dancers, face painting, children's games, a motorcycle show, and adult horseshoes. The church's pastor is Rev. Peggy Briggs.

VBS at Gethsemane U.M. Church Gethsemane United Methodist Church will be offering Shipwrecked Vacation Bible School on Aug. 6-9, 6-8 p.m. for kids who will by 4 by Aug. 31, and not in diapers, through kids who will be entering 5th grade in the fall. Kids will have fun as they explore the Bible, sing songs, play games, and do crafts while learning that Jesus will carry them through the storms of life. Gethsemane is located at 2701 Woodland Ferry Rd., on Rt. 20, four miles west of Seaford. While not mandatory, early registration is encouraged. VBS at Laurel Wesleyan Laurel Wesleyan Church "Incredible Faith FAM JAM" Family Style VBS for all ages will be held Aug. 8-10, 5:30-8:30 p.m. Includes dinner, crafts, worship, games and the Word of God. VBS at St. Paul's UMC St. Paul's UMC at 32827 Old Stage Rd. in Laurel will have Vacation Bible School July 30 through Aug. 3 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. This year's theme is Shipwrecked, rescued by Jesus.
