Sunday Night Gospel Series Join us at Centenary UMC, 200 W. Market St., Laurel, for our Sunday Night Gospel Series. Spring Concert at Old Christ Church The board of directors of Old Christ Church League in Laurel invites the public to itsannual Spring Concert at the historic church at 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 20. Members of theSouthern Delaware Chorale will perform a variety of musical styles.Also performing this year is Ged Pearson, of Seaford, who will perform several piano selections, in addition to selections on the clarinet. Built in 1771, Old Christ Church is listed in theNational Register of Historic Places. The church is located off Rt. 24 in Laurel on Christ Church Road and Chipman Pond Road. Weekend Revival Wheatley Methodist Church, 5832 Wheatley Church Rd., Galestown, Md., will hold a Weekend Revival on May 4-6. The Rev. Dean Purdue, Centenary UMC, Laurel, will bring the message all three nights. Singers are: Friday, May 4, 6:30 p.m. - Jennifer & Morgan Purdue; Saturday, May 5, 6:30 p.m. - The Sons of Thunder; and Sunday, May 6, 2 p.m. - The Ambassadors.An old fashioned Methodist fellowship meal will follow Sundays service. Come join us as we revive and renew our relationship with Christ.

Gospel singers and musicians wanted for open mic Open Mic Christian Night is actively searching for Gospel/Christian singers and Christian comedians on a regular basis to assist for our Open Mic Christian Night at Compassionate Shepherd Ministries in Laurel. Also looking for musicians who enjoy playing Gospel music. We already have a keyboard, bass, and rhythm guitar players. Maybe a lead, fiddler, steel guitar and drummer. We hold our Open Mic night the first Friday of every month starting in April - December. This is a great way to showcase your talents for various churches at one time.Our audience is a mixture of varied churches throughout the area. Sandwich and yard sale The Delmar Church of God of Prophecy, located on Route 13 and Dorothy Road, will hold a sandwich sale on May 12 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be oyster, crab cake, soft shell, cheese steak sandwiches and more. Prayer Brunch Mt. Calvary A.M.E. Church, Concord, will hold a Mothers and Daughters Prayer Brunch on Saturday, May 12 from 10 a.m. to noon.

Services, events at St. Pauls St. Pauls UMC, 32827 Old Stage Rd., Laurel, invites the community to join us at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, to pray for our nation as we observe and honor the National Day of Prayer. The church will hold a Revival Weekend on Friday, May 4 to Sunday, May 6. The weekend begins at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 4, with speaker Jim Ruark of Mt. Zion UMC and special music by Sons of Thunder. On Saturday, May 5 at 7 p.m., the speaker will be Evangelist Earnie Evans and music will be provided by The Evans Family. Sunday morning services are at 10 and the speaker is the Rev. Bob Hudson with special music provided by Silver Threads. A love offering will be taken at each service to support the music ministries.

Father-Son/Brother-Brother Banquet The United Methodist Women of Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church, Bridgeville,will be sponsoring a Father-Son/Brother-Brother Banquet to celebrate men and the important role they play in our lives. The event will be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday,June 9, in the Fellowship Hall at Union Church, 2 N. Laws St., Bridgeville. Special guest and emcee will be gospel comedian JReam. Cost is $25 for adults, $12.50 for ages 5-12; ages 4 and under are free but they must have a ticket. Deadline to purchase tickets is May 31. No tickets will be sold at the door. Day of Prayer Service The Greenwood Memorial VFW Auxiliary of Post 7478 will sponsor the National Day of Prayer Service under the leadership of Dept. of DE VFW Auxiliary Chaplain Rev. Michaele S. Russell. The special service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, at Living Life Fellowship on Market Street in Greenwood.This years theme is Pray for Unity, Ephesians 4:13.
