Services, events at St. Pauls St. Pauls UMC, 32827 Old Stage Rd., Laurel, invites the community to join us at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, to pray for our nation as we observe and honor the National Day of Prayer. The church will hold a Revival Weekend on Friday, May 4 to Sunday, May 6. The weekend begins at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 4, with speaker Jim Ruark of Mt. Zion UMC and special music by Sons of Thunder. On Saturday, May 5 at 7 p.m., the speaker will be Evangelist Earnie Evans and music will be provided by The Evans Family. Sunday morning services are at 10 and the speaker is the Rev. Bob Hudson with special music provided by Silver Threads. A love offering will be taken at each service to support the music ministries.

Events at St. Stephens UMC Join us at St. Stephens UMC, 101 E. State St., Delmar. Join us on Sundays - 9 a.m. - Contemporary Praise Service; 10 a.m. - KIDZ & Adult Sunday school classes; 11 a.m. - Traditional Service & KIDZ Church Dinner Theater - Saturday, May 12 - In keeping with the this years 150th anniversary theme, the church will have a Dinner Theater on Saturday, May 12. Dinner will be at 5:30 p.m. followed by the play at 7. The play will take us from the churchs beginnings to today. Admission is free but donations will be accepted. Annual Golf Tournament - The 11th Annual Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, June 15, at the Green Hill Country Club in Quantico, Md. Registration opens at 8 a.m. (coffee will be available). Tee time is at 9, with a scramble format. This years tournament will honor Greg and Joy Smith. Community Fun Day New Zion UMC is hosting a Community Fun Day to kick off its Sunday school - Terrys Heart SOS Comes to New Zion - on Saturday, April 14 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the back of Paul Laurence Dunbar School in Laurel. St. Matthews Church celebration dinner The Eighth Annual Honoring Our Elders Celebration Dinner will take place Saturday, April 21 at 3 p.m. at the St. Matthews Church Hall on Wolfe Street in Laurel. This is a free special event for residents aged 55 and older. There will be limited seating, RSVP by Friday, April 13. The dinner, hosted by Community Efforts, is being held in memory of Madeline Ennis, Delores Dixon, and Betty Cannon. Book exchange fundraiser A book exchange fundraiser will take place on Saturday, April 14 from 2-5 p.m. at the Bethany Community Church, located at 28015 Kaye Road in Laurel. The entrance fee is $1 at the door. Homemade refreshments are included. Bring five books that you have read and exchange them for five different ones. Additional books will be $1 each. A variety of books are available.

Fridays for Families Family Ministries Team presents Fridays for Families @ Felton-Viola UMC each month at the church in Felton. The next event is Friday, April 13 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and the parent topic will be first aid. Children will enjoy concurrent activities. For more information, visit

Mother-Daughter/Sister-Sister Lunch The Bridgeville Charge will host their annual Mother-Daughter/Sister-Sister Luncheon at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, at the Fellowship Hall at Union United Methodist Church, 2 N. Laws St., Bridgeville. Special guests will be the Second Generation Community Chorus of Federalsburg, Md. This event is sponsored by the Bridgeville Charge Finance Committee as a fundraiser for the Bridgeville Charge Community Outreach Program. Cost for adults is $25; children ages 5-12, $12; and children ages 4 and under are free, however, they must have a ticket. Father-Son/Brother-Brother Banquet The United Methodist Women of Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church, Bridgeville, will be sponsoring a Father-Son/Brother-Brother Banquet to celebrate men and the important role they play in our lives. The event will be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday,June 9, in the Fellowship Hall at Union Church, 2 N. Laws St., Bridgeville.Special guest and emcee will be gospel comedian JReam. Cost is $25 for adults, $12.50 for ages 5-12; ages 4 and under are free but they must have a ticket.

Sister to Sister III Gathering Come and be a part of this years Sister to Sister III Gathering at St. Johns UMC in Seaford on Saturday, April 14. Check-in begins at 9:30 a.m. followed by praise and worship at 10 and the catered luncheon at 11:30. Enjoy musical arrangements by St. Johns assistant music director, Joy Slavens, who has published two books of Christmas music, two solos and teaches piano and harp to over 40 students. Dr. Janelle Beiler is the speaker for Sister-to-Sister III The speaker for Sister-to-Sister III on Saturday, April 14 at St. Johns UMC in Seaford is the Rev. Dr. Janelle Beiler. Janelle has blessed St. Johns women in 2016 and again in 2017 with two in-house retreats. Both times she spoke to welcoming audiences who responded enthusiastically to her presentation. Day of Prayer Service The Greenwood Memorial VFW Auxiliary of Post 7478 will sponsor the National Day of Prayer Service under the leadership of Dept. of DE VFW Auxiliary Chaplain Rev. Michaele S. Russell. The special service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, at Living Life Fellowship on Market Street in Greenwood. This years theme is Pray for Unity, Ephesians 4:13. Gospelfest musical celebration Gospelfest with the Christian Travellers, a musical celebration which includes dinner and a concert, will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, at Grace United Methodist Church Hall, 11 King St., Georgetown. This event benefits the Richard Allen Coalition. Cost is $25 per person ($30 at the door), $40 per couple, $13.50 for ages 5-12 and free for ages 4 and under. Gospel singers, musicians needed Gospel/Christian singers, Christian comedians, and musicians who enjoy playing gospel music - lead, fiddler, steel guitar and drummer - are needed to perform on a regular basis at Open Mic Christian Night held the first and third Friday of each month in April through December at Compassionate Shepherd Ministries in Laurel. Fish sandwiches Atmosphere of Praise Choir of Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church, 28 Church Street, Bridgeville will be selling fish sandwiches on Friday, April 27 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Cost is $7 per sandwich which includes sandwich, soda or bottle of water, a bag of chips and cookies. All you can eat dinner The amount for the plentiful servings oflong pasta pieces with delicious orbs of meat, being served with pureed fruitbetween 4 -7 p.m. on April 21at Mt. Olivet Church in Seaford is $7 for ages 5 - 10 and $9 for those older. For those who would like to end their meal with a taste, calorie sweet, baked goods will be availablea for $.25 each There will also be a variety of liquids,both hot and cold. All proceeds from this fundraiser will be put toward our summer camp fees and help replace items that predate our previous Scout Masters time in Troop 182. All you can eat spaghetti and meatball dinnerwith applesauce and plenty of drinks. Desserts also available.
