Delmar Community Carol Sing The Delmar Community Carol Sing will take place on Sunday, Dec. 10 at 4 p.m. at the Delmar High/Middle School auditorium. The Delmar Bobcat Chorus, local choirs and performers and the combined bell choirs of Holy Redeemer and St. Stephens, will perform. There is no charge, but place bring a canned good for local needy families. All are welcome for soup, sandwiches, and cookies at the St. Stephens Camelot Hall following caroling- sponsored by local churches.

Advent Christ Lutheran Church will be holding advent services on Wednesdays, starting this week. Mid day services will begin with lunch at 11:30 followed by the service at noon. In the evening will be dinner at 5:30 p.m. followed by services at 6. This will be a potluck, so bring a dish to share. All are welcome.

Open Mic Christian Night Open Mic Christian night will take place on Friday, Dec. 1 from 7-9 p.m. at Compassionate Shepherd Ministries. Donate a new or used 8 to 12 Teddy bear or a 12+ toy doll baby that we can sanitize to hand out to Alzeimers and nursing home patients during and after the holidays throughout the area. There will be a lot of good old time gospel music and Danny the Disgruntled Elf emcees. The night will feature eight year-old Will Parker, Jim Dryden, Dean, Galen Queen, Connie and Allen, Ronnie Messick and more singers, fun and surprises. Do you want to sing, then come on down and sing.You never know whos going to join us. The church is located at 10771 N. Plaza Road in Laurel, across from Food Lion Plaza. This event is sponsored by local churches. Dec. 24 - Three Christmas Eve services - 10 a.m., 7 p.m., 11 p.m. Dec. 31 - New Years Eve Dinner featuring a Southern Gospel Concert and great fellowship. Cost is $20 per person. Enjoy the Homeland Singers, Triple Praise and special guest, Covenant Ground. Jan. 14, 2018 - Beef and Dumpling Dinner, VFW in Delmar, 12:30-4 p.m. Cost is $14 per dinner.

Advent, Christmas at St. Lukes St. Lukes Episcopal Church, on Front Street in Seaford, announces its schedule for Advent and Christmas. Advent, the season to listen and reflect, begins Sunday, Dec. 3. St. Lukes welcomes you to each of our Advent and Christmas services. Exploring the Story of Christmas- Wednesday evenings during Advent, St. Lukes is offering a meal and a study looking more closely at a story we know well, perhaps seeing the meaning of Christmas with new eyes.

Each program will start with a light meal of soup and bread at 6 p.m. in the Parish House, followed by study and meditation at 7 p.m. led by Pastor Marianne Ell. These programs will be held Dec. 6, 13 and 20. A Christmas community give-away Mt. Calvary A.M.E. Church in Concord will hold a Christmas Community Giveaway on Saturday, Dec. 9 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.. Gospel Extravaganza The 25th Gospel Extravaganza - A Birthday Celebration for Jesus the Christ will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2 at St. Johns 2nd Baptist Church, 26602 Mt. Joy Rd., Millsboro, at 6 p.m. The event will feature the Delaware State Gospel Choir. This non-denominational event is sponsored by Sussex Community Gospel Mass Choir. Everyone is welcome to come and celebrate the unity we share in Christ. All donations will be given to a needy family.

Christmas Celebration Gospelfest with the Christian Travelers Christmas Celebration to benefit the Richard Allen Coalition will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9, at Grace United Methodist Church Hall, 11 King St., Georgetown. Cost for the dinner and concert is $25 per person, $40 per couple and $30 at the door. Ages 5-12 are $13.50 and ages 4 and under are free. Conleys UM Church Presents Hansens Christmas Play Conleys United Methodist Church in Angola, Delaware, will present Christmas Play by Gary Neal Hansen. This drama will use the very words of scripture to irresistibly draw the audience and participants into the dramatic sweep of the story of God entering into our world as the Christ-child. Performance times are Friday, Dec. 15 at 6:30 p.m., Saturday Dec. 16 at 4 p.m., and Sunday Dec. 17 at 3 p.m. After presenting their outdoor Living Nativity for the last 16 years, this year the play will take place indoors at Conleys warm and spacious worship center. Admission is free, and there will be ample free parking. Before and after the presentation you can enjoy some Christmas music, and join the cast after the performance for refreshments in the fellowship hall. All donations of cash and canned goods

Live Nativity at Mariners Bethel UM On Wednesday, Dec. 13, Mariners Bethel United Methodist Church of Ocean View will present a Live Nativity featuring the Christmas story told and re-told every half hour from 6-8 pm on the church grounds at 81 Central Avenue in Ocean View. Bring your family out for our annual tradition of presenting the Nativity outdoors with Christmas carols, music, hot chocolate and refreshments by the fire. Blue Christmas Service Felton-Viola United Methodist Church, 101 E. Main St., Felton, will hold a Blue Christmas Service at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 21. This service of reflection acknowledges the fact that not everyone finds the holidays cheerful. Come have your spirits lifted and find hope in the season.
