Compassionate Shepherd CompassionateShepherd Ministries will be having Ronnie Messick of Seaford as its guest singer on Sunday Nov. 26 during the morning worship service at 11. The ministries are located at 10771 N. Laurel Plaza Road in Laurel (across from Walgreens on the Dual Hwy.). Open Mic Christian Night Open Mic Christian Night will take place on Friday, Nov. 17 from 7-9 p.m. at Compassionate Shepherd Ministries. Donate a 8 -12 teddy bear or 12+ toy doll baby that can be sanitized to hand out to Alzeimers and nursing home patients during & after the holidays throughout the area. There will be a lot of good old time gospel music, featuring Danita Robinson, Jim Dryden, Dean, Galen Queen, Connie and Allen, and other singers, fun and surprises. Do you want to sing, then come on down and sing.You never know whos going to join us. The church is located at 10771 N. Plaza Road in Laurel, across from Food Lion Plaza. Gospel Extravaganza The 25th Gospel Extravaganza - A Birthday Celebration for Jesus the Christ will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2 at St. Johns 2nd Baptist Church, 26602 Mt. Joy Rd., Millsboro, at 6 p.m. The event will feature the Delaware State Gospel Choir. This non-denominational event is sponsored by Sussex Community Gospel Mass Choir. Everyone is welcome to come and celebrate the unity we share in Christ. All donations will be given to a needy family.

A night of music at St. Pauls St. Pauls UMC Church, 32827 Old Stage Rd., Laurel, invites the community to join us for a night of music on Sunday, Dec. 3 at 6 p.m. The program features the music ministry of a new local group, Silver Threads. Their music has something for everyone - a little bluegrass, Southern Gospel and some hip hop. Come be blessed by their unique blend of harmony and music. A love offering will be taken to bless their ministry.

Surviving the Holidays Surviving the Holidays will be held at St. Johns United Methodist Church, 300 N. Pine Street in Seaford on Nov. 19 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Wesley Lounge.

Holidays are difficult after the loss of a love one and this two hour seminar will give tips on how to get through the holidays using video and group discussion. Questions or to register call 302-629-9466. No children or childcare.

Homecoming and anniversary First Baptist Church of Laurel, located at 32631 Bi-State Blvd., will be celebrating 44 years of preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The service will be on Sunday, Nov. 19 at 10 a.m. There will be special preaching, singing from church members, and guest singers from the area, with a meal to follow. Walker family to minister in music The Walker family from Florida will be ministering in music at the Delmar Church of God of Prophecy on Sunday, Nov. 19 at 11 a.m. The church is located on Route 13 and Dorothy Road. The Walker family has traveled throughout the U.S. and Canada. They have had three top 20 songs in Christian Country Music and have been nominated for group of the year by the Inspirational Country Music Association.

Free Community Thanksgiving Dinner The 18th Annual Free Community Thanksgiving Dinner sponsored by Union United Methodist Church, located at 2 N. Laws Street in Bridgeville.will take place on Thanksgiving Day in Fellowship Hall on Thursday, Nov. 23 from noon until 2 p.m. All are welcome to come, no charge. Limited local deliveries available.
