Live Nativity at Mariners Bethel UM Mariners Bethel United Methodist Church of Ocean View will present a Live Nativity featuring the Christmas story told and re-told every half hour on Wednesday, Dec. 14 from 6-8 p.m. on the church grounds at 81 Central Avenue in Ocean View. Advent and Christmas at St. Lukes St. Lukes Episcopal Church, on Front Street in Seaford, announces its schedule for Advent and Christmas. Advent, the season to listen and reflect, begins Sunday, Nov. 27. St. Lukes welcomes you to each of our Advent and Christmas services. Exploring the Story of Christmas- Wednesday evenings during Advent, St. Lukes is offering a meal and a study looking more closely at a story we know well, perhaps seeing the meaning of Christmas with new eyes. Each program will start with a light meal of soup and bread at 6 p.m. in the Parish House, followed by study and meditation at 7 p.m. led by Pastor Marianne Ell. These programs will be held Nov. 30, Dec. 7, 14 and 21. Open Mic Christian Night The beginning of the Christmas Music gala takes placet Compassionate Shepherd Ministries, 10771 N. Plaza Road, Laurel (across from Food Lion Plaza), with Open Mic Christian Night on Friday, Dec. 2 from 7-9 p.m.. Special Emcee will be Danny the Disgruntled Elf. There will also be good old gospel music. Admission and snacks are always free.

Shopping fundraiser Stop by Lincoln UMC - 8641 Second ST - Lincoln DE on Saturday, December 10 between 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Over 20 vendors will be available for shopping. Lunch and baked goods will be available. Money raised will be given to a full time missionary heading to Cambodia in 2017.

Service of Lessons and Carols The Annual Service of Lessons and Carols will take place at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4, at historic Old Christ Church, Christ Church Road, Laurel.The Bella Voce chorus from Sussex Tech High School will lead the congregational carols and perform special musical selections. Old Christ Church, which was built in 1771 and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places, has not been altered from its original state or electrified, so please dress warmly and bring a lap robe if you wish. Come and experience an 18th century Christmas gathering in a beautiful setting. The church will be lit by candles and decorated with greens for the occasion. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted for the upkeep of the church.
