Christ Church 'Purpose Driven'
Christ United Methodist Church, 510 S. Central Ave., in Laurel, will be participating in a nationwide spiritual growth campaign called '40 Days of Purpose' featuring the best-selling devotional book, 'The Purpose Driven Life,' by Pastor Rick Warren. 'The Purpose Driven Life' daily devotional book, which is the focus of each group study, can be purchased for $8. Groups will begin meeting weekly on Sept. 25. 125 Anniversary Homecoming
Greenwood United Methodist Church will celebrate its 125th aniversary/homecoming on Sunday, Sept. 18, at 3 p.m. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Dr. Sandra Steiner-Ball, district superintendent, and special music is being provided by the Epworth Quartet. A covered dish dinner (entree provided) will be served following the service. End of life issues discussed
A panel discussion on end of life issues will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 7 p.m., at St. John's United Methodist Church, located at Pine and Popular streets, Seaford. Participants include Rev. Larry Ganster, Delaware Hospice social worker; Michael McGroerty, attorney-at-law; Dr. Marie Wolfgang, internal medicine; and Rev. Boyd Etter, senior pastor of St. John's U.M. Church. Discussion will surround questions concerning the emotional, legal, medical and spiritual considerations on issues such as advance directives and living wills, followed by a time for questions and distribution of forms. The public is invited.

Nazarene special singers
The Laurel Nazarene Church, located on 94 Walnut St., in Laurel, will be having special singing guests, Bill and Karen Itzel on Sunday, Sept. 18, at 10:45 a.m, during the family worship service. A love offering will be taken. For more information, call the church office at 875-7873.

St. Luke's fall schedule
The fall schedule IS underway at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Seaford. The schedule is as follows: 9 a.m., Holy Eucharist; education hour (Church School and Adult Forum) 10:30 a.m. Beginning Thursday, Sept. 22, and every Thursday, there will be the celebration of Holy Eucharist at 6 p.m. Manor House Holy Eucharist is at 10:30 a.m., the second Wednesday of each month and Lofland Prayer Service is at 2 p.m. the third Sunday of the month.

Southern gospel group
St. Paul's United Methodist Church, located on Old Stage Road, in Laurel, Delaware will be hosting the ever-popular southern gospel music group 'The Royal Sounds.'

The group based in the Lancaster Pa., area has spread the gospel with their musical talent for many years up and down the mid-Atlantic region. This program will be held on Sept. 25, and begins at 7 p.m. There is no admission but a free will offering will be taken. For more information, phone 856-6107.

Bus trip to Lancaster
Bus trip to Sight and Sound, Lancaster, Pa. to see 'Song of David,' Thursday, Oct. 27, 2 p.m. Sponsored by St. John's UMC, Seaford. Be at the church parking lot at 9:30 a.m. The cost is $40. Annual Fall Bazaar
Christ United Methodist Church ,510 South Central Avenue in Laurel will hold its Annual Fall Bazaar on Friday, Oct. 14, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., carry-outs are available. There will be crafts, baked goods, a country store, and trash & treasure table. For information call 875-4233.

DivorceCare meets new time
The DivorceCare Support Group will begin meeting again on Wednesdays at 6:45 p.m. at the Atlanta Road Alliance Church, located 1.5 miles north on Atlanta Road, directly north of the Seaford Animal Hospital. This is a support group for anyone going through the trials and pain of separation and/or divorce. It is based on a revised 13 week DVD series which covers topics designed to help stabilize you so that you can better deal with the normal trials of everyday living.

Topics included in this series are: anger, depression, loneliness, even reconciliation, just to name a few. Note the change in day and start time of the meetings. Latin Mass September 18
A Latin mass according to the Missal of 1962 is celebrated on the third Sunday of every month at 3 p.m. at Holy Cross Church in Dover. The mass will be celebrated on Sept. 18. The mass is always a Missa Cantata using traditional Gregorian chant. For further information, call 302-674-5781.

Mt. Calvary Women's Day
Mt. Calvary, A.M.E. Church in Concord will have its annual Women's Day on Sunday, Sept. 18. Services begin at 10 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. The morning messenger will be Minister Phyllis Perkins of Milton. Music will be rendered by the Mt. Calvary Women's Day Choir.

The afternoon messenger will be Bishop Ruth Batton of Mt. Zion Holy Church, Milton. The theme will be 'Mt. Calvary Women with a Vision.' The event is sponsored by the women of Mt. Calvary A.M.E. Church. Chairpersons are Darlene Albury, Timah Ricketts, Carla Tingle and Kim West. The pastor is the Rev. Idola J. Williams.

'Saturday Night Son Rise'
Come experience and share with us this weekly, 'Saturday Night Son Rise Celebration with Jesus Christ' at St. John's Church, Pine and Popular streets, Seaford, beginning Saturday, Sept. 24. This laity driven community gathering and celebration is for those who want to seek and/or broaden their Christian spirituality through live contemporary, praise music, a community call-out sing-a-long, skits and drama, testimonials and sharing, and evangelistic, scriptural teaching followed by fellowship and light snacks. Asbury revival, homecoming
Asbury United Methodist Church, Rt. 9 near Hardscrabble, will be hosting a special revival service Sept. 28-30 each evening at 7 p.m. Pastor Don Murray will be speaking on Wednesday and Thursday evening. Special music will be provided by Pastor Murray's St. Paul's United Methodist Church on Wednesday evening and his family will be providing the special music for Thursday evening's service.

Pastor Everett C. Isaacs will speak on Friday evening. Isaacs is the pastor of Melson Charge, Delmar and father of Asbury's Pastor Paul Isaacs. Evangelist Paula Mounce-Hobia will minister in music on Friday evening. Services will continue on Sunday, Oct. 2, at 9:15 a.m. with Isaacs bringing the message and Paula Mounce-Hobia the special music. The homecoming service will commence at 2 p.m. on Sunday again with Isaacs and Mounce-Hobia sharing the service. A meal will follow the homecoming service in the community hall. All are welcome. St. Paul's 'Quiet Reflection'
A Day of Quiet Reflection will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Pine and Academy streets, in Georgetown on Saturday, Oct. 1. Barbara Tucker will be the presenter and her topic is, 'The Spirit of God Moved in the Hebrew Scriptures.' This is the first in a series of Days of Quiet Reflection on the theme 'Hearts on Fire: The Holy Spirit Through the Ages.' All are welcome bring a brown bag lunch. Beverages are provided.
