Conley's UMC Gospel Sing On Sunday, Sept. 11 at 2 p.m., Conley's United Methodist Church in Lewes will hold their 11th Annual Gospel Sing. Join us for an afternoon of praise and worship music, rejoicing and relaxing. Performers include Cathy Gorman, Joyful Expressions, Patsy Wright, Gloria Holland, Lori and Robert Lee, Sussex County Community Gospel Ministry Choir, Gus and Brittany Glaros, Brian Lewis, Delmarva Ramblers, Lilly Mae Border, Homeland Singers, Pastor Mike and Ann Hurley, and Conley's Choir members. Everyone is welcome. There is no admission charge, but a free will offering will be taken to benefit local charities in Sussex County. Labor Day Festival Delmar First Baptist Church Labor Day Festival will be held on Monday, Sept. 5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church in Delmar, Md. The car show will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and singing will be from noon to 2 p.m. under the church pavilion. Singers include Jack Andrews, Kindred Spirits, Jimmy Cullen and The Dove Quartet. Sunday Service The final Sunday service at Old Christ Church, Laurel, will be held at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 4. Located at the intersection of Chipman Pond and Christ Church roads, we are open to the breezes since we have no electricity and no air conditioning. Come as you are. All are welcome, including families and groups.

Griefshare at St. John's St. John's United Methodist Church, 300 N. Pine St., Seaford, will offer Griefshare, a 13-week nondenominational journey, "From Mourning to Joy," beginning Sunday, Sept. 11 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in the Wesley Lounge. Open Mic Christian Night Compassionate Shepherd Ministries, 10711 N. Plaza Rd., Laurel, presents Open Mic Christian Night, "Singing with Dean Adkins," on Friday, Sept. 2 from 7-9 p.m. Enjoy special music by new friends, singer Jennifer Perdue and musician James Dryden and performances by the Not Quite Right Senior Trio plus many other new singers. Outdoor Gospel Concert St. Georges United Methodist Church, 34894 Saint George Rd., Delmar, will have an outdoor gospel concert at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, rain or shine. The Homeland Singers and Triple Praise will perform. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy some great music. A free will offering will be taken for the performers. Everyone is welcome.

Patriot Day Event Sunday, September 11, marks the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on America. Wheatley Methodist Church in Galestown, Md., will hold a Patriot & National Day of Service and Remembrance event at 2 p.m. on Sept. 11, to honor the memory of the nearly 3,000 victims, law enforcement and first responders who perished during the search and recovery activities. The event will also honor the memory of our fallen military heroes and demonstrate our support for our military, law enforcement, and first responders who currently serve, or have served defending our freedom and assuring public safety. Come out to the church grove and unite with fellow Americans as we pay respect and show our support for our American heroes. Everyone is welcome. Wheatley Methodist Church is located between Sharptown and Eldorado, Md., at the intersection of Rt. 313 and Wheatley Church Road. Some seating will be available but lawn chairs are welcomed and encouraged.

Victory Junction Joe Dawson Music Ministry will host Victory Junction from 6-8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10, at Long Neck UMC, 32051 Long Neck Rd., Millsboro. Guest singers include The Baptist Boys, Jack Andrews and Joe Dawson. Everyone is welcome.

Youth Prayer Breakfast A Community Youth Prayer Breakfast, "Youth on the Move: It's Your Time," will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, at Church of God and Saints of Christ Church Hall, 10016 Concord Rd., Seaford. Speakers will be the Rev. D.R. Trader from Dimensions Ministries and Bishop Jesse Abbott, senior pastor. Breakfast is free. Everyone is welcome to come out and support the youth in our community. Delmar Church of God of Prophecy sandwich sale The Delmar Church of God of Prophecy, located at Route 13 north and Dorothy Road in Laurel (three miles north of the Maryland and Delaware state line), will hold a sandwich sale on Saturday, Sept. 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The sale will include oyster sandwiches, crab cakes, soft crabs, chicken salad, and much more.
