Christian Church celebrates anniversary The Christian Church of Seaford, 22581 Sussex Hwy., invites the community to its 50th anniversary celebration on Sunday, Nov. 8. Ray Bennett, founding church evangelist, will speak at 10 a.m. and the worship service will follow at 10:30. A spaghetti dinner will follow the morning worship. The evening service will be held at 6 p.m. A weeklong celebration will be held nightly at 7, Monday through Friday.

Rev. Nuss joins Christ Lutheran Christ Lutheran Church in Seaford welcomes the Rev. David F. Nuss and family. Rev. Nuss, who was raised in Westwood, N.J., received an associate's degree from Concordia College in Bronxville, N.Y. in 1974 and a bachelor's degree at Concordia Senior College in Ft. Wayne, Ind. in 1976. He earned a Master of Divinity Degree from Concordia Theological Seminary in Ft. Wayne in 1981. Rev. Nuss has served at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour, Ind.; The Lutheran Church of Our Savior, Monticello, Ind.; Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Delmar; Trinity Lutheran Church, Glen Cove, Long Island, N.Y. and The Lutheran Church of Christ the King, Pawling, N.Y. Since 2001, Rev. Nuss served as pastor at St. Matthew Lutheran Church and School. Rev. David, his wife Michelle and their son Joshua David are looking forward to a fruitful ministry at Christ Lutheran.

Thanksgiving Celebration & Feast The Gospel Cafe will hold a Thanksgiving Celebration & Feast at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, at Christ Evangelistic Church, 9802 Camp Rd., Laurel. Griefshare at St. John's Griefshare is being offered by St. John's United Methodist Church, 300 N. Pine St., Seaford, from 4-5:30 p.m. in the Wesley Lounge. The path to healing is not always smooth and we need to prevent ourselves from getting stuck in grief. Open Mic Christian Night Open Mic Christian Night sponsored by Compassionate Shepherd Ministries will be held on Friday, Nov. 6 from 7-9 p.m., at The Lighthouse Church in Laurel. Join us for Couples Singing Night. Special guests include Bunky and Dottie Eye, Galin and Jillian Queen, Connie and Allen Reustle, and more. Dean will host with help from his friends. Christmas Shopping Extravaganza Laurel Nazarene Church will hold a Christmas Shopping Extravaganza on Saturday, Nov. 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the church which is located at 100 Walnut St., Laurel. Proceeds will benefit the church mission trip to Belize.

Fall Luncheon at Powellville UMC Powellville United Methodist Church will hold a Fall Luncheon on Saturday, Nov. 28 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Join us for oyster sandwiches, chicken salad, soups and a baked goods table. Call 410-835-3388 for more information.

Auction at Zoar UMC Zoar United Methodist Church in Millsboro will hold an auction on Saturday, Nov. 21, to benefit the church's scholarship fund and needy family fund. The auction will feature collectibles, antiques, and great gifts, plus a variety of baked goods just in time for Thanksgiving. Live Nativity at Mariner's Bethel UMC Mariner's Bethel United Methodist Church of Ocean View will present a Live Nativity featuring the Christmas story told and re-told every half hour from 6-8 p.m. on the church grounds at 81 Central Ave., Ocean View, on Wednesday, Dec. 16. Fried Chicken Dinner New Hope United Methodist Church in Wilards, Md., will hold an All-You-Can-Eat Fried Chicken Dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21, at the church. The menu includes mashed potatoes, greens, string beans, macaroni and cheese, beets, biscuits, dessert and coffee.

Tailgate for Jesus Mt. Olivet UMC welcomes the community to their annual Tailgate for Jesus on Sunday, Nov. 8. Kickoff is noon in the church parking lot at 315 High St., Seaford. Great tailgate food prepared by the men and women of Mt. Olivet UMC will be served. Tickets will be available for the Mt. Olivet Father-Daughter Dance held at Seaford High School. Homecoming at Woodland UMC Woodland United Methodist Church will hold its annual Homecoming Service at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 8. The church is located at 5123 Woodland Church Rd., next to the Woodland Ferry house. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Tom Gross and special music will be provided by Jerry and Jeannie Jones. Delmarva Ramblers concert Delmar First Baptist Church, Delmar, Md., will hold a gospel concert featuring the Delmarva Ramblers on Sunday, Nov. 8 at 6 p.m. Bring your friends and join us for some good 'ole Southern Gospel music. Joy Night The Seaford Clarence Street Church of God will hold a Joy Night service at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 13 and Saturday, Nov. 14. All are welcome. A free will offering will be taken. The church is located at 743 Clarence St., Seaford.

Chinese Auction at St. Philip's St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Laurel will holds its 10th Annual Chinese Auction on Saturday, Nov. 14. Doors to Memorial Hall will open at 5 p.m. Chili, hot dogs, desserts and beverages will be sold. The auction will begin at 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome to join us for a fun filled evening. Free Thanksgiving Dinner Bethel United Methodist Church at Oak Grove invites everyone to the 8th annual free Thanksgiving dinner at noon on Thursday, Nov. 26. There is only one seating at noon. The church is located west of Seaford at 2381 Neals School Road.
