Homecoming at Woodland UMC The Woodland United Methodist Church annual Homecoming Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9. The Rev. Boyd Etter, former district superintendent of the Dover District, will be the guest speaker. Special music will be provided by Lilly Wooten from Cambridge, Md. All are invited. A covered dish dinner will follow in the Fellowship Hall. There will be no morning worship service.

Homecoming at St. Johnstown UMC St. Johnstown United Methodist Church of Greenwood will celebrate its 235th Anniversary and Homecoming at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9. The church is located one mile east of Greenwood on St. Johnstown Road. Pastor Bruce Rogers will lead the service, Sharon Morgan will bring the message and the Good News Tour and Donnie Lofland will bless us with songs. Refreshments will follow the service. All are welcome.

Heroin Alert Drug Awareness Program The Lighted Pathway Family Life Center and the A.C.E. Center has invited the Heroin Alert Drug Awareness Program from New Castle County to present their program on Tuesday, Nov. 18. Events start at 10 a.m. The Heroin Alert Program is an educational and emotionally moving multimedia presentation that will be presented to the Sussex County community at the Lighted Pathway Family Life Center, 425 E. Roast Beef Dinner Mt. Olivet UMC will hold their Annual Roast Beef Dinner in the Fellowship Hall at Mt. Olivet on Friday, Nov. 14, from 5 to 7 p.m. The meal is served buffet style and take out will be available. There will be a silent auction for your enjoyment.

Griefshare at St. John's Griefshare is being offered by St. John's United Methodist Church, 300 N. Pine St., Seaford, from 4-5:30 p.m., in the Wesley Lounge. On Sunday, Nov. 9, we will discuss Your Family and Grief. Family members may have different methods of grieving and we will learn how to support our family and not let grief become your identity. Delmar Community Carol Sing St. Stephens UMC presents the Delmar Community Carol Sing at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7, at the Delmar High/Middle School Auditorium. After caroling, all are welcome at St. Stephens' Camelot Hall for free soup, sandwiches and cookies. Please bring a canned good for distribution to local needy.

Homecoming at Union UMC Union United Methodist Church in Bridgeville will hold a Homecoming Service at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Gary Tulak. A brunch will follow the service in the fellowship hall. There will be no Children's Church or Sunday School, however, Nursery Service will be offered. Everyone is welcome to join us for a time of worship, great music, fellowship and food. It is always a pleasure to see people that we have not seen in some time and become reacquainted.

Evening of remembrance, celebration Union United Methodist Church, Bridgeville, will host an evening of Remembrance and Celebration (previously known as Blue Holiday), at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 23, in the sanctuary. This will be an evening dedicated to those who have lost a loved one or are experiencing a difficult time due to physical, emotional health situations or financial concerns. Our hope is that during this time of prayer and fellowship these concerns may be lessened. Union recognizes that the holidays can sometimes add to an already stressful situation. After the service, a dessert reception will be held in the Children's Church Room. Please join us and invite someone you know who may be having difficulties during this season. Community Thanksgiving Dinner Union United Methodist Church in Bridgeville will hold its 16th Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner featuring turkey and all the trimmings on Thursday, Nov. 26 beginning at noon and ending when everyone has been served. The dinner is free and open to all.

'Moses' at Sight & Sound John Wesley UMC Seaford is sponsoring a trip to see the play, Moses, at Sight & Sound Theatre in Lancaster, Pa., on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015. Cost, which is $125 for adults and $95 for children, includes the show at 2:45 p.m. and family style dinner at Hershey Farms at 6:15. Bus leaves at 10 a.m. from Big Lots in Seaford. Grief can make the holidays painful Join us for an encouraging seminar that will help you survive the holidays and discover new reasons to enjoy them again. Griefshare is being offered by St. John's U.M.C., 300 N.Pine St., Seaford, from 4-6 p.m. on Nov. 16, in the Wesley Lounge. The discussion will be on "Surviving the Holidays."

Free Clothing and Soup Kitchen Seaford Wesleyan Church sponsors a "Free Clothing and Soup Kitchen" every second Saturday of the month from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 202 North St., Seaford. Everyone is welcome. For more information, call 628-1020.

Free Thanksgiving Meal A free Thanksgiving Day meal will be held at the Lighted Pathway Family Life Center in Seaford on Thanksgiving Day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Life Center is located at 425 E. Stein Hwy., Seaford. Everyone is invited. To volunteer or sponsor the event, call 629-8583 or attend the planning meeting on Nov. 18.

American Music Theater trip Join Christ United Methodist Church in Laurel for a trip to the American Music Theater, Lancaster, Pa., to see their Christmas Show on Friday, Dec. 5. Thanksgiving for Thousands Mountaire Farms begins its 20th year as sponsor of the Thanksgiving for Thousands food drive program in Delmarva, helping families in Delaware, Maryland and Virginia enjoy a holiday meal. On Saturday, Nov. 8, at 10 a.m., volunteers from American Legion Posts in Sussex and Kent counties, along with church and other community volunteers, will be positioned at the following stores helping with the food drive program: Hockers's Supercenter in Ocean View; Super Fresh - West Ocean City, Md., Rehoboth Beach; Redner's - Georgetown, Milford, Camden; Giant - Long Neck, Millville; Safeway - Rehoboth Beach; Wal-Mart - Rehoboth, Georgetown, Milford. On Monday, Nov. 24, at 8:30 a.m., volunteers will be at the Mountaire Farms Selbyville warehouse packing 10,000 boxes of staples and a Mountaire roaster to help feed more than 45,000 individuals this holiday season.
