Open Mike Christian Night Open Mike Christian Night is the first and third Friday of every month from 7 to 9 p.m. at The Lighthouse Church. Free admission and free snacks. Bring your singing talents and CD or musical instrument. One person, group singers, young to seniors are welcome. Enjoy singing, praises and testimonials to the Lord. St. Stephens Fall Festival Oct. 18 - Fall Festival at Camelot Hall from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fun for the whole family. Blessing of the Animals St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Bridgeville will hold a Blessing of the Animals at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5. Bring your animals both large and small and join us as we ask God's blessing on all that He has created.

Gospel Cafe The Gospel Cafe will be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4, at Christ Evangelistic Church in Laurel. The Klucas Sisters will make a special appearance along with many other artists from the Shore. Dinner, which begins at 5 p.m., includes dessert and drink for $10. Everyone is welcome. GriefShare support group GriefShare, a 13 week nondenominational grief support group, is being offered by St. John's United Methodist Church in Seaford. Sessions begin on Sunday, Oct. 12 and will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. GriefShare is a biblical based program. Call the office of St. John's United Methodist Church at 629-9466 to register.

Homecoming at Providence Church Providence United Methodist Church in Georgetown will hold a Homecoming Service at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5. Guest speaker will be Pastor Joe Roszin and special music will be presented by Brittany Lewis of Pocomoke, Md. A covered dish dinner will follow the service. Annual Walk for the Poor The Society of St. Vincent dePaul's 3rd Annual Walk for the Poor in Seaford will be held on Friday, Oct. 3. Pledges to support the walkers can be made at the registration table at the opening of the event at the A.C.E. Center on Bradford Street (across from Davelli's) at 5 p.m. All funds raised will be used locally to support the efforts of the society's conference at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. The walk route is from the A.C.E. Center to the church and back; this is a one mile walk. The public is invited to participate. 'Free Clothing and Soup Kitchen' Seaford Wesleyan Church sponsors a "Free Clothing and Soup Kitchen" every second Saturday of the month from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 202 North St., Seaford. Everyone is welcome. For more information, call 628-1020.

Free Thanksgiving Meal A free Thanksgiving Day meal will be held at the Lighted Pathway Family Life Center in Seaford on Thanksgiving Day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Life Center is located at 425 E. Autumn concert Old Christ Church League will hold an autumn concert at Old Christ Church, Laurel, on Sunday, Oct. 12 at 3 p.m. Harpist Joy Slavens will perform with an ensemble of four students presenting a variety of group and solo pieces, including classical and sacred music. The concert is free, but an offering will be taken for the preservation and restoration of Old Christ Church. Come join us for beautiful music on the shores of Chipman's Pond. Yard Sale at St. Paul's St. Paul's UMC in Laurel invites the community to join us for a Yard Sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m on Saturday, Oct. 4. Tables are $10 each.

Events at Union UMC Union United Methodist Church (UUMC) in Bridgeville will hold a Fall Harvest Buffet Dinner and Music at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22, in the Fellowship Hall. The meal will be prepared and served by the United Methodist Women and Worship Committee. This is a ticketed event, cost is $10 per person payable by cash or check. This event will feature a variety of speakers that will provide information on how we can prepare our family members for a time when difficult medical/financial decisions need to be made and we are no longer capable of making those decisions. The event will begin at 8 a.m. with a continental breakfast followed by speakers from 9 to noon. Scheduled speakers include Procino-Wells and Woodward, LLC; Edward Jones, Financial Investment; Alzheimer's Association; Hospice and Parsell's Funeral Homes and Crematorium. American Music Theater trip Join Christ United Methodist Church in Laurel for a trip to the American Music Theater, Lancaster, Pa., to see their Christmas Show on Friday, Dec. 5. Gospel Experience 2014 Storm Shelter Ministry presents Gospel Experience 2014 on Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Seaford Banquet Hall (Fire Hall). Appearing will be Jay Caldwell & The Gospel Ambassadors, Nu Found Joy, Sons of Christ, Darryl Tindley Jr. and Love Defined Band. Doors open at 4 p.m. Soul food platters will be sold. Dinner and Movie Night Crossview Church at 33056 Bi State Blvd., Laurel, is having a dinner and movie night on Saturday, Oct. 11. Dinner, which is at 6 p.m., includes all-you-can-eat spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, dessert and iced tea for $5. Galestown Homecoming Galestown United Methodist Charge will have their 159th Homecoming Celebration at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 19. There will be no morning service. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Fred Duncan, district superintendent. Special music will be by Charlie Paparella and The Olivet String Band, The Rocking Grannies and Randy Marine.

Blessing of the Animals On Saturday, Oct. 4, at 11 a.m., Bethel UMC of Oak Grove will celebrate the Feast Day of Saint Frances with a Blessing of the Animals. Everyone is invited to bring their animal friends in cages or on leashes to receive words of thanksgiving from Pastor Charles Kind. All critters, big and small, including humans, will receive a goodie bag of treats. Bethel UMC is located west of Seaford at 2381 Neal's School Road. In case of rain, the event will be canceled.

Tailgate 2014 at Laurel Nazarene Laurel Nazarene Church invites you to join us at Tailgate 2014 at North Laurel Elementary School on Sunday, October 19. The event will begin at 10 a.m. with a worship service. There will be free hot dogs, brats, chips, baked goods, drinks, inflatables and cotton candy. Bring a chair and wear your favorite team's jersey.
