The Batchelor's will minister Christ Evangelistic Church in Laurel invites everyone to experience the uplifting ministry of Leon and Robbie Batchelor at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 17 and 7 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 18-19. For over 28 years, Leon and his wife Robbie were the senior pastors of Lakeview Community Church near Tyler, Texas. Today, they are pastors emeritus. Events at Union UMC Union United Methodist Church, 2 N. Laws St., Bridgeville, will host a Community Movie Night on Sunday, Aug. 24. Doors open at 6 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall for a time of food and fellowship. The movie, "God's Not Dead," will begin at 7 in the sanctuary. The movie is appropriate for all ages and everyone is welcome. There is no charge to attend. The fall schedule will begin on Sunday, Sept. 7, with two worship times: 9 a.m. for contemporary worship and 11 a.m. for traditional service. Children's church starts at 9 a.m. and is open for ages 4 through 5th grade. All Sunday school classes begin at 10 a.m.; classes are held for adults, children and youth. GriefShare group at St. John's St. John's United Methodist Church in Seaford is offering GriefShare, a 13 week non-denominational grief support group. Church of Christ awards scholarships The Seaford Church of Christ Scholarship Committee is pleased to announce the recipients of this year's scholarships, Cassidy Thompson and Emily Ruth Giboney. Scholarships were awarded on Aug. 3, after the morning service. Cassidy received $2,000 for her studies at Frederick Community College in Frederick, Md. She plans to major in child psychology. Emily received $3,000 for her studies at Harding University in Searcy, Ark. A sophomore majoring in nursing, she was previously awarded $2,000 in 2013. Scholarship applicants demonstrate a love for Christ and a practice of that love in his or her life. Their studies will enable them to promote Christianity in their daily lives. Bethel Charge presents VBS program Bethel Charge will host a one day Vacation Bible School (VBS) program, "Shake It Up Cafe," on Saturday, Aug. 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Mt. Zion Church, Laurel. Children ages 3 through 12 (potty trained please) are invited to join us for a fun-filled day of games, crafts, music and stories all designed to give children a recipe for living out God's Word.
