MWM meets on June 14 Mothers With a Mission (MWM) will hold their second open meeting on Saturday, June 14, from 9 to 11 a.m. on the second floor of the Georgetown Public Library. Led by Candy Abbott, MWM seeks to build up godly mothers in an effort to give the world something to aspire to. The group is made up of mothers who think it is about time to speak up and do something positive to bring back morality and spirituality to the nation we call home. Sussex County Prayer Breakfast Tickets are on sale for the 37th annual Sussex County Prayer Breakfast to be held on Tuesday, June 17. Pastor Saint Clair Sterling from Delmarva Teen Challenge in Seaford will be the featured guest speaker. Pastor Sterling grew up in Kingston Jamaica in a life filled with drug addiction and recklessness. He found a new life in Christ through the ministry of Teen Challenge Jamaica. He is currently the men's supervisor at Delmarva Teen Challenge in Seaford. The Sussex County Prayer Breakfast is held each year to bring citizens and community leaders together for a morning of ministry, music and personal reflection. The event is attended by business professionals, community leaders and various representatives of local, county, state and federal governments. Ticket sales and community sponsorships help support this annual event. Former County Councilman Dale R. Dukes is again volunteering his time to coordinate the breakfast. The breakfast will begin at 6:45 a.m. on June 17, at Crossroad Community Church, Rt. 404 and State Forest Road, west of Georgetown. The ministry and music portion of the program will begin at 7:30 a.m. Tickets are $15 per person or $110 per table of eight and will be available on a first-come, first served basis. All-you-can-eat Fish Fry Centenary UMC located at 200 W. Market St., Laurel, will host an all-you-can-eat Fish Fry from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 21. Cost is $12 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 to 12 and children under 6 are free. Carry-outs are available.

Open Mike Christian Night Open Mike Christian Night is the first and third Friday of every month from 7 to 9 p.m. at The Lighthouse Church. Free admission and free snacks. Bring your singing talents and CD or musical instrument. One person, group singers, young to seniors are welcome. Enjoy singing, praises and testimonials to the Lord. Grief support group GriefShare, a 13 week nondenominational grief support group is being offered by St. John's United Methodist Church in Seaford, beginning Sunday, June 22. Sessions will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. GriefShare is a biblical based program for the journey of grief and recovery utilizing video, workbook and group discussion. Home repair program available Homeowners in rural areas who need repairs to their home but can't afford regular loans may be eligible for a USDA Rural Development loan at only one percent interest. Seniors, age 62 and older, may qualify for free home repairs up to $7,500 through the USDA Rural Development grant program. Funding may become limited after June 30. "We are looking for lower income homeowners that need help fixing or replacing a roof, installation or repair of a septic system, replace storm doors and windows, or other repairs to correct or remove existing health, safety, sanitary and accessibility issues," said Bill McGowan, Delaware and Maryland director for USDA Rural Development. Services at Old Christ Church Summer services for Old Christ Church, Laurel, will be held at 10 a.m. on the first Sunday of each month, June through September. VBS at Centenary UMC Centenary United Methodist Church, Poplar & Market Sts., Laurel, will hold Vacation Bible School, "Weird Animals," from June 23-27, 9 to 11:30 a.m. Children from the ages of 4 through 6th grade are welcome to attend.
