Bus trip to Women of Faith Gethsemane United Methodist Church will host a bus trip to Women of Faith in Philadelphia, Pa., on Sept. 6-7. Trip includes hotel, bus and event. For information, email or call 302-236-4069.

Fish fry at Centenary UMC Centenary United Methodist Church, 200 W. Market St., Laurel, will host an all you can eat fish fry from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 15. Cost is $10/adults, $5/children (ages 6-12), under 6/free. Carry outs available.

Events at Union UMC On Saturday, June 15, Union United Methodist Church located at 2 N. Laws St., Bridgeville, will host The Island Boys, a southern gospel duo from the Eastern Shore - Danny Travers from Deal Island and Ernie Evans from Smith Island. There is no admission charge although a "love offering" will be taken. For more information, call the church office at 337-7409. The church will hold its annual free Vacation Bible School Program from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on June 24-28. The program is open to all children ages 4 through completed 5th grade. Once again the church will offer its Summer Camp Program. The first week begins July 8-12 and is open to children ages 5-10 years. A half-day Pre-K camp will be offered in July. Lightning Strikes concert series The Lightning Strikes concert series, at The Lighthouse Church, located at 27225 Kaye Rd., just off Rt. 9, County Seat Highway at Dukes Lumber Road, Laurel, is held every second and fourth Saturday of the month. Bethel Worship Center yard sale The Sisters in Christ of Bethel Worship Center are having their semi-annual yard sale on June 8 startting at 7 a.m. Located at 26648 Sussex Hwy., Seaford.

Yard Sale to help area youth A yard sale will be held from 7 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, at Laurel Wesleyan Church, rain or shine. Proceeds will help send youth to camp this summer. The church is located at 30186 Seaford Rd. on Alt. 13, 1/2 mile north of Laurel. For more information, call 875-5380

VBS at Laurel Baptist Laurel Baptist Church will have Vacation Bible School on June 24-28, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. This year's theme is "Colossal Coaster World," 2 Tim, 1:7. Registration forms will be available opening night. VBS is for ages Pre-K to 13 years. Any questions, call Shirley at 875-2314.

Annual County Prayer Breakfast Tickets are on sale for the 36th annual Sussex County Prayer Breakfast, to be held Tuesday, June 18, with Pastor Anthony Wallace from Crossroad Christian Church in Dover as this year's featured guest speaker. Pastor Wallace has a very diverse background. He has held positions ranging from a chicken factory worker to an Apache pilot in the United States Army. The Sussex County Prayer Breakfast is held each year to bring citizens and community leaders together for a morning of ministry, music, and personal reflection. The event is attended by business professionals, community leaders, and various representatives of local, county, state and federal governments. Ticket sales and community sponsorships from individuals, organizations and businesses help support this annual event. Former County Councilman Dale R. Dukes is again volunteering his time to coordinate the breakfast. The breakfast will begin at 6:45 a.m. June 18, at Crossroad Community Church, Rt. 404 and State Forest Road, west of Georgetown. The ministry and music portion of the program will begin promptly at 7:30 a.m. Tickets are $15 per person, or $110 per table of eight, and will be available on a first-come first-served basis. VBS at Concord UMC Vacation Bible School (VBS) will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. nightly, June 24-28, at Concord United Methodist Church near Seaford. Celebrate God's welcoming love for everyone at the "Everywhere Fun Fair," where God's world comes together. Kids will experience the love of Jesus, meet welcoming neighbors from the Bible, and explore the everyday life of neighbors from countries far and wide. Kids will also discover that God's love welcomes everyone, as they learn to love and serve God and be a neighbor to all of the world. Each evening kids will engage in activities involving Bible stories, music, crafts, recreation, snacks and more. VBS is open for kids in pre-K thru 12th grade. Centenary Church VBS Centenary United Methodist Church, Poplar and Market Sts., Laurel, will be holding Vacation Bible School, entitled "SonWest Roundup," June 24-28 from 9-11 a.m. Children in 4-6th grade are welcome to attend. Griefshare class offered Griefshare, a special seminar and group support for people grieving the loss of someone close, will be offered at Encounter Praize at Christ Lutheran Church, Seaford. Griefshare is a non-denominational group that features Biblical teaching on grief and recovery. One class will meet on Friday mornings from 9 to 11 and the second class will meet on Saturday evenings from 5 to 7 p.m. Call 629-9755 for details.

Summer Service Schedule Old Christ Church, Laurel will be open for regular Sunday services on the first Sunday of each month, June through September. The services, Holy Eucharist and Sermon, will take place at 10 a.m. on the following Sundays: July 7, Aug. 4 and Sept. 1.

Don's Angels Walk for ALS Saturday, May 18, Don's Angels walked to raise money for the ALS Foundation. Along with Laurel Middle School Honor Society students, Don's Angels were well represented from St. Paul's UMC. Don's Angels Raised $1,300 for ALS in memory of their former Pastor Don Murray who passed away with this disease in 2012. Special thanks to everyone who walked, cheered us on or donated money to make this walk a success.
