Consignment Boutique, Art Gallery The Church Mouse Consignment Boutique and Art Gallery, a mission of Union United Methodist Church in Bridgeville, is now open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.All proceeds go to Union United Methodist Church. Lightning Strikes concert series The Lightning Strikes concert series, at The Lighthouse Church located at 27225 Kaye Rd., just off Rt. 9, County Seat Highway at Dukes Lumber Road, Laurel, are held every second and fourth Saturday of the month. Different styles of music are showcased including Christian rock, rap, hip-rock, metal blues and more, as well as audience participation nights. There is a $4 donation at the door and ages 12 and under are free. Dont forget to ask for a reward card to save on future admission and shakes. LMA meeting The Laurel Ministerial Association will meet on Wednesday, Nov. 7 at 2 p.m. and Wednesday, Dec. 12, at 2 p.m. The Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service will be Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. at Centenary United Methodist Church in Laurel. Rev. Backus, the new president, will be the guest preacher and the New Zion Choir will sing.

Asbury UMC celebrates 200 years Asbury United Methodist Church will celebrate its 200th year of continuous service to the Lord on Sunday, Nov. 11 in a 2 pm. Homecoming Celebration Service. The Rev. George Godfrey, former pastor at Asbury, will be the keynote speaker. He will be joined by current Pastor John Hinkle Jr., the Rev. Glenn Lyburn, Pastor Ken Huffman and the Rev. Richard Bridge. Each pastor has served at Asbury at one time in their careers. The Rev. Boyd Etter, Dover district superintendent, will join in the celebration. Special music will be provided by the Rev. Jack Savage, Arnold Smith Jr. and Darlene and the Old Time Gospel Singers. After the service, a meal will follow in the Church Hall where commemorative items - calendars, afghans and a cookbook - will be available for purchase. The church is located on Rt. 9, just west of Sussex Tech High School.

Fall Revival, Womens Day The womens discipleship of Booker Street Church of God, Georgetown, is hosting a Fall Revival from Oct. 16 through Friday, Oct.19, 7:30 p.m. nightly. Guest speakers were Pastor Melissa Dukes (Tuesday), Pastor Peggy Briggs (Wednesday), and will be evangelist Tiffani Malory (Thursday and Friday). Everyone is welcome. The church will hold its Annual Womens Day on Sunday, Oct. 28. The morning speaker at 11:30 am. is Evangelist Felicia Hazzard of New Life Fellowship, Milford; afternoon speaker is Evangelist Anita Owens Scott of North Carolina. LBeef & dumpling dinner Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, located on Rt. 13A between Seaford and Laurel, will host a beef & dumpling dinner with all the trimmings on Saturday, Oct. 20. Dinner begins at 5 p.m. and carry-outs will be available at 4 p.m.

Cornerstone Shoppe The Cornerstone Shoppe (a fundraiser) is now open at Christ the Cornerstone Community Church, corner of Bethel and Seaford Rd, Laurel. On sale are collectibles, gifts, toys, Christmas decor and more, jewelry, furniture, and items too numerous to list. Stop in on Thursday from noon to 7 p.m., Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., or Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to see bargains galore.

Praise & Worship Competition The 3rd Annual Mountaire - Delmarva Praise and Worship Competition is Saturday, Oct. 27, at Epworth United Methodist Church in Rehoboth Beach.This event will begin at 10 a.m. and is free to attend. Attendees will enjoy a day of music and fellowship as praise teams from across Delmarva compete well into the evening for cash prizes.In conjunction with the event, Epworth will host a chicken and dumpling fundraiser dinner. Cello at Christ Church The board of directors of Old Christ Church League announces its 2012 autumn concert - Cello at Christ Church on Sunday, Oct. 21 at 2 p.m. with Dr. Jeffrey Schoyen.

Dr. Schoyen graduated with distinction from the New England Conservatory of Music. He completed an MFA at Carnegie Mellon University and a DMA at Stony Brook. An active chamber musician and recitalist, he has given concerts throughout the United States, Germany, Mexico and Spain. Dr. Schoyen has taught at the University of Nebraska at Kearney and at the University of Dayton. He is an associate professor at Salisbury University where he teaches cello and bass, and various other courses. Dr. Schoyens solo cello recital will include works by Bach, Gabrielli, Piatti and Bloch.

Homecoming at Galestown UMC Galestown United Methodist Church will hold its 157th Homecoming Celebration on Sunday, Oct. 21 at 2 p.m. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Martha Callaway and music will be provided by The Sounds of Joy Trio and Randy Marine and Janie Wooters. A buffet style hot meal will be held immediately following the service.

Prayer Garden Hymn Sing Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, located on High Street in Seaford will host a hymn sing in the Prayer Garden on Sunday, Oct. 21, at 5 p.m. Bring a lawn chair and your love of music to sing some old favorites as well as new praise music. Rob Harman will provide the leadership in this tranquil setting. Refreshments will be served following the event.

Homecoming at Bethel UMC Bethel United Methodist Church in Federalsburg, Md., will hold its annual homecoming on Sunday, Oct. 21. Come out and hear the mighty word from Pastor Andre Alexander and Co-Pastor Nakhia Alexander of Promise Family Ministries in Bridgeville. Womens Conference 2012 John Wesley United Methodist Church will host their annual womens conference on Saturday, Oct. 27, at St. Lukes Parish Hall, 202 North St., Seaford. The theme is Women with Issues with guest speakers Rev. Idola Batson of Mt. Calvary A.M.E. Church, Concord; Elder Audrey Hallett of Jehovah Tabernacle, Berlin, Md., and many other speakers covering a variety of topics. GriefShare program offered Community members who have experienced the death of a family member or friend are invited to register for the GriefShare program held at St. Johns United Methodist Church. This program features Christ-centered, biblical teaching that focuses on grief topics associated with the death of a loved one. Robert Collins and his wife, the Rev. Danese Collins, will lead the sessions. Both leaders have completed additional course work in counseling the bereaved and grieving. GriefShare will be held on Wednesdays in the Wesley Lounge of St. Johns United Methodist Church. To register or for questions, call 629-9466. Child care is not provided.
