Open Mike Christian Night Open Mike Christian Night will be held the first and third Friday of the month from 7 to 9 p.m., at The Lighthouse Church located at 27225 Kaye Rd., just off Rt. 9, County Seat Highway at Dukes Lumber Road. Bible Boot Camp Laurel Wesleyan Church will hold VBS Sundays, "Bible Boot Camp," this summer. Kids items accepted Little Grace "Newborn & Children's Closet" at Grace United Methodist Church, 7 S. Special worship hour St. John's United Methodist Church extends an open invitation to come to a special 10 a.m. worship hour on Sunday, Aug. 12. The Itzels, Maryland's premiere independent Christian music ministry, will perform. Bill and Karen, along with their three children, Jessica, Ryan, and Shannon Bailey, have been touring full-time for over 20 years and have over 200 original songs. Women's Conference & Luncheon Bethel Worship Center's Sisters in Christ Women's Ministry will present "A Healing Place Women's Conference & Luncheon" on Saturday, Aug. 11 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Bethel Worship Center in Seaford. Anti-Drug Rally, March & Fun Day Take a stand against drug and alcohol abuse at the Nineteenth Annual Community Anti-Drug Rally and March on Saturday, Aug. 18. The march will begin at 11 a.m. on the grounds of the Booker Street Church of God, located on Booker Street near the Richard Allen School. The purpose of the rally and march is to send a positive message to the entire community, especially to youth, that says yes to life and no to drugs. Participants will be carrying signs and spreading their anti-drug messages through the streets of Georgetown. The march will return to the church grounds, where Fun Day activities will be held from noon to 4 p.m. There will be games, singing, food, dunking booth, moon bounce, train rides, drill teams, creative dance, and more. Since all items are given away free of charge, donations of any kind are welcome. Exhibit tables will also be available for those interested in distributing literature and other items. Annual Tent Services Everlasting Hope Ministries announces the schedule for this year's Nineteenth Annual Tent Services. The services will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 14-16, 18, 19 on the grounds of the Booker Street Church of God. Services will begin 7 p.m. nightly. There will also be two Sunday services at 11:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. A guest speaker will present a timely message each night to inspire and challenge attendees to resist drugs and alcohol and to strive for excellence through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. IGNITE Family Event Families are invited to attend the IGNITE Family Event from Aug. 15-17, at the Western Sussex Boys and Girls Club at 310 Virginia Ave. On Wednesday, Aug. 15, community organizations will be available from 5 to 6:30 p.m. giving out information around health and support programs. Dinner will be served nightly beginning at 6 p.m. and immediately following will be music and activities for the whole family. Lower Shore America For Jesus Rally Before the massive America For Jesus gathering on Independence Mall in Philadelphia, Sept. 28-29, a Lower Shore America For Jesus Rally will be held at 4 p.m. on Sat., Aug. 25, at New Dimensions Church, 1907 Jersey Rd., Salisbury.  America For Jesus is a national solemn assembly where people of all cultures will gather to pray for America. So far, 34,000 churches are participating. Organizers expect Independence Mall to be filled on Sept. 29.  The Delmarva rally on Aug. 25 will lead corporate prayer in conjunction with the Philadelphia event. The rally's theme is "Many Churches, One Body, America For Jesus." It is being facilitated by Bishop Jesse Abbott of New Dimensions Ministries, and Randy Walter of Shiloh Ministries, to bring regional churches together to pray.  America For Jesus seeks a spiritual  not a political  solution to the nations plight, evidenced by a weak economy, catastrophic weather and natural disasters. Coming 40 days before the national elections, America For Jesus occurs at a strategic time. It is supported by almost 100 national Christian leaders, listed on the event website, All America For Jesus activities are free.  People who attend the Lower Shore rally who stay for the potluck supper are encouraged to bring a side dish or dessert. VBS for mentally challenged The BSSP Program at Christ Lutheran Church, 315 N. Shipley St., Seaford, will host its summer Vacation Bible School program on Aug. 13-17, for mentally challenged youth and adults. The theme is "Amazing Desert Journey," where Jesus leads us home. Students will sing, pray and learn how Jesus walks with us and leads us on a journey to our eternal home in Heaven. A light dinner will be served from 6 to 6:30 p.m. Class is from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Bible stories will be told by a storyteller, along with puppets, music, games and crafts.
