Community Lenten Services For Christians, Ash Wednesday signifies the first day in the season of Lent, marking the liturgical period prior to Easter. This year the clergy of the Seaford Ministerium launched the Community Lenten Services on Ash Wednesday. St. John's United Methodist Church served as the host church to begin the noon services which will rotate to a different host church each Wednesday throughout Lent. Wednesday, March 14 - St. Luke's Episcopal, 202 North St., Seaford Wednesday, March 21 - Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Parish, 532 E. Stein Hwy., Seaford Worship begins at noon, ending at 12:25, lunch goes until 1 p.m. (or longer for those who do not need to get back to the office). For more information, call Rev. Free weekly soup social A free weekly soup social is held every Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, 510 S. Central Ave., Laurel. For details, call 875-4233.

Open mike Christian Night Open mike Christian Night will be held at The Lighthouse Church, 27225 Kaye Rd., Laurel, on the first and third Friday of every month from 7 to 9 p.m. Free admission and free snacks. Free classical piano concert The Seaford ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormon) invites the public to celebrate the anniversary of the Relief Society with a free piano concert at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 23. Guest recitalist is Linda Field, co-founder of the Southern Delaware Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. Light refreshments will be served after the concert. Lenten worship, fellowship and study All Saint's Episcopal Church, 10th & Grove streets, Delmar, is offering an order of worship for the evening, followed by a soup supper, and viewing and discussion of The Teaching Company DVD, "The Cathedral," by Dr. William R. Cook on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Everyone is welcome. The schedule includes: March 14 - Chartres-The Building; March 21 - Chartres-The Sculpture; March 28 - Chartres-The Windows.

'Free Lunch and Clothing' Seaford Wesleyan Church will sponsor a "Free Lunch and Clothing" from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 202 North St., Seaford. News from Trinity UMC Trinity UMC on Phillips Hill Road in Laurel is taking orders for homemade Easter Eggs. They will be available for pick-up or delivery the last week of March. There are 3 flavors: buttercream, coconut and peanut butter. Cost is $2.50 each. Call Barbara at 875-3582 to pre-order.

Trinity UMC will show the movie "Courageous" at 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 18. A Bible study for men who want to learn how to be a man of God in these challenging times will be held on Thursdays, March 22 and 28; and Wednesdays, April 4 and 11. Beef and dumpling dinner Mt. Zion Methodist Church will host a Beef and dumpling dinner on Saturday, March 10. Dinner is served at 5 p.m. and carryouts are available at 4 p.m. The church is located on 13A between Seaford and Laurel.

Revival at Laurel Baptist Laurel Baptist Church will have a Revival on March 12-14 beginning at 7 p.m. The church is located at 33056 Bi-State Blvd. For more information, call Shirley at 875-2314. Everyone is invited.

Bluegrass Gospel Concert Peninsula Bluegrass presents a Bluegrass Gospel Concert at Sam Yoder Concert Hall in Houston on Saturday, March 17 at 6 p.m. The concert will feature "Sacred Sounds" and "Set Free." Military persons gathering Retired, active and inactive military persons, please join us. Grace Baptist Church Fellowship Hall is open every Tuesday from 3 to 5 p.m., for all denominations who have served in any branch of our military to come and have free coffee and snacks with us. This is not a church service, we just sit at the round table and share stories about the time we have served our country. You don't even have to share your story, just listen to what others have to say. This also gives us a chance to personally thank you for your years protecting us. Homemade Easter eggs for sale Homemade Easter Eggs will be for sale from Christ Lutheran Church. These eggs were the first ever and still are the best on the Shore. Flavors include peanut butter, coconut cream and butter cream. Eggs are $3.50 each. Call 629-9751 or 629-9755.

Prayer breakfast at New Zion The Men of New Zion United Methodist Church in Laurel is hosting a prayer breakfast at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 10 in the dining hall (428 W. Sixth St.). Cost for adults is $9 and children under 6 is $5. Contact the church for more information at 875-0727.

Beef and dumpling dinner Concord United Methodist Church will have a Beef and Dumpling Dinner on Saturday, March 17, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Community House. Menu includes beef & dumplings, homemade mashed potatoes & gravy, green beans, handmade cole slaw, applesauce, rolls & butter, beverages, and assorted cakes for dessert, all for $12 per person or $6 for children under 12 (pay at the door). 'Courageous' showing The film "Courageous" will be shown at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, at Mt. Pleasant UMC in Laurel. The church is located off of Rt. 24 West, on Mt. Pleasant Road.
