Gospel Café Every Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. there is a Gospel Cafe in the Fellowship Hall at Laurel Baptist Church. Free Christian entertainment, live bands, local talent. The church is located at 33056 Bi-State Blvd., Laurel.

2011 Western Sussex Crop Walk On Sunday, Oct. 2, Western Sussex churches and organizations have the opportunity to support the needs of families, both locally and globally, by walking in the 2011 Western Sussex CROP Walk. 2011 will be the 17th CROP Walk held in Western Sussex. Seventy five percent of the donations collected from this years walk will go to help millions of people around the world and the U.S. Twenty five percent of the donations will be distributed evenly between The Seaford Food Closet and Love INC. Awana Clubs at Alliance Church Awana clubs are being held at Atlanta Road Alliance Church on Wednesdays from 6:45 to 8:25 p.m., for children in kindergarten through sixth grade. For 60 years, Awana has been a leader in childrens ministry, helping churches and parents worldwide raise youth to know, love and serve Christ. Sparks (K-second grade) ignites the curiosity of early elementary kids to learn about the people and events of the Bible, building a foundation of wisdom for knowing Christ. Children enjoy the games and spending time with leaders and friends. T&T (Truth & Training) engages third- through sixth-graders by answering their questions about God and the Bible, guiding them through this pivotal life stage to grow in Christs grace. Centenary UMC worship schedule Centenary UMC in Laurel will begin a new worship schedule effective Sunday, Oct. 16.We will have one service at 10 a.m. with Sunday school for all ages held at 9 a.m. This service will consist of a blend of traditional and contemporary worship styles and a variety of music. On Oct. 16 we will celebrate Pastor Appreciation Day and Laity Sunday with guest speaker Joan Hart. Join us for worship each Sunday at 10 a.m., beginning Oct. 16.

90th Reunion at Concord UMC The Sons, Daughters & Friends of Concord 90th Reunion will take place on Saturday, Oct. 15. Beginning at 2 p.m. at Concord United Methodist Church, there will be fellowship, a dedication and memorial service to honor those sons, daughters and friends of Concord who have passed away since last years reunion. The Rev. Diane E. Melson, will deliver a brief message and guests will be entertained with music by The Lights of Home. A chicken & dumpling dinner will follow at 4 p.m., at the community house. The public is invited to the dinner. Adults are $10; children 4-12 are $5; 3 & under are free. The church will be open for visitors to see items of historical interest to the neighborhood and church; and commemorative items such as Christmas ornaments, crocks, pen & ink prints, (all depicting the church) and bricks will be for sale. Yard sale at Centenary Centenary UMC Higher Ground Youth Ministry will have a Yard Sale in the church parking lot on Saturday, Oct. 1, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Blessing of the Animals Join us for the annual Blessing of the Animals at Old Christ Church, Laurel, at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 2.There will be a short non-sectarian service;all animals will receive a blessing and a certificate. The animals are welcome to be in the church throughout the service. However, there is a nice grassy area outside if your animal gets restless and you need to take a break. All are welcome. A free-will offering will be taken which will be used for the preservation of Old Christ Church, Laurel.

Praise Service at Seaford Nazarene The Gospel Express and Jerry Thompson will lead a praise and worship service on Sunday, Oct. 9, at 11 a.m., at the Seaford Nazarene Church, located on Rt.13 south, next to the Guide. A love offering will be taken. Come and be blessed. All are welcome.

Homecoming at Cokesbury U.M.C. Cokesbury United Methodist Church, near Reliance, is having their homecoming service on Sunday, Oct. 9, at 2 p.m. The speaker is Pastor Frederick Wessel. Special music will be provided by Pastor Jim Penuel III. Dinner to follow the service. All are welcome.

Beef-n-dumplings dinner Mt. Zion Methodist Church, located on Route 13A between Seaford and Laurel, will host a beef-n-dumplings dinner on Saturday, Oct. 15. The dinner will begin at 5 p.m. and carryouts will be available at4:30 p.m.

A night of Christian music Please join us for a wonderful night of Christian music at Sam Yoders Concert Hall on Friday, Oct. 14. Dinner is served at 5:30 p.m. for those who have dinner tickets. Doors open at 6:15 for general admission. Concert starts at 7 p.m. Hear the wonderful music of Donnie Sumner-former Elvis Presley Aide, Gaither Homecoming Artist, Grammy Nominee, and Dove Award Winner. Also ministering in song will be Jerry Jones-International Songwriter of the Year, 2004, 2005, and 2006, CGMA male vocalist of the year, and composer of two number one songs on the New York Gospel Review Chart, in addition to being three time performer at God and Country Theatre in Branson, Missouri. Christian Writers Conference Vine & Vessels Christian Writers Fellowship will host its 3rd annual Christian Writers Conference on Saturday, Oct. 15 from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Crossroad Community Church. This years theme is Get The Word Out, based on II Corinthians 3:2 (NIV). Marlene Bagnull, Litt.D., is the keynote speaker. She is the author of five books, including Write His Answer - A Bible Study for Christian Writers. Dynamic workshops and facilitators will provide participants with information on writing and marketing strategies. Paid critique sessions are also available. Rates are $20 for youth (ages 10-18), $40 for adults (ages 19-61), and $25 for seniors (ages 62+). The registration packet includes two workshops, a continental breakfast and lunch. Participants may register up to the day of the conference, however, a $5 late fee is required after Sept. 30. St. Lukes fundraiser St. Lukes Episcopal Church in Seaford will host a Night of Shopping on Thursday, Oct. 27 from 6 to 8 p.m., at Wheatons, formerly Tulls, along Stein Highway, Route 20 west. Wheatons will be open that evening to only those who have purchased a $5 admission ticket from a member of St. Lukes Church.That ticket will entitle you to a 20% discount on most of the stores merchandise. The Christmas shop will also be open for early holiday purchases. Excluded in the discount is all upholstered furniture and K-cup coffee pods.
