Women's Ministries, Bible Study Women's Ministries and Bible Study meets Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. at The Salvation Army in Seaford, next to Food Lion. Gospel Café Every Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. there is a Gospel Cafe in the Fellowship Hall at Laurel Baptist Church. Free Christian entertainment, live bands, local talent. The church is located at 33056 Bi-State Blvd., Laurel.

Sportsman's Banquet The 1st Annual Sportsman's Banquet at Laurel Wesleyan Church, Laurel, is Saturday, Aug. 13, from 2 to 7 p.m. The event will be catered by Famous Dave's BBQ and features speaker/comedian Joey Hancock, outdoor activities, hayride, petting zoo and games and includes the following vendors - Gander Mountain, Holly Swamp Taxidermy, Old Hitch Outfitters, Quality Deer Mgmt., and Devastator Game Calls. Free weekly soup social A free weekly soup social is held every Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, 510 S. Central Ave., Laurel. For details call 875-4233.

Summer hours at Centenary During the month of August, Centenary United Methodist Church, Laurel, will have one service each Sunday at 10 a.m.Sunday School for all ages will begin at 9 a.m.Effective Sept. 4, Centenary UMC will return to its normal schedule of Contemporary Worship at 8:45 a.m. and Traditional Worship at 11 a.m. All are welcome to come and worship with us each week.

Missions & Kidz Fest Celebration The Laurel Baptist Church and the Gospel Cafe are hosting a Missions & Kidz Fest Celebration on Saturday, August 20, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Everything is free and everyone is invited. There will be live music, games, prizes, crafts, food, face painting, tumblers and fun for all. Come enjoy the last weekend before school starts. Old Fashioned Gospel Night On behalf of our "Kingdom Building Project," the Pastor's Council of Clarence Street Church of God is sponsoring an Old Fashioned Gospel Night in "Psalms, hymns and spiritual songs" on Saturday, August 20, at 6 p.m. Featured will be soloists, choirs, Gospel music groups and Creative Expressions. All are invited to come and enjoy an evening of spiritual renewal.

Ice Cream Sale Mt. Zion Methodist Church will host an ice cream sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27. Flavors include vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, banana and pineapple. Autoharp player to perform Dan Tabler, a member of the Southern Delaware Choral Society, will be offering special music and bringing the morning message at the Independent Methodist Church (IMC) atthe 10:30 a.m. Sunday service on Aug. 21. Christian Writer's Conference Vine & Vessels Christian Writer's Fellowship will host its 3rd annual Christian Writer's Conference on Saturday, Oct. 15 from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Crossroad Community Church. This year's theme is "Get The Word Out," based on II Corinthians 3:2 (NIV). Marlene Bagnull, Litt.D., is the keynote speaker. She is the author of five books, including "Write His Answer - A Bible Study for Christian Writers." Her credits include over 1,000 sales to more than 100 different Christian periodicals. She founded the Greater Philadelphia Christian Writer's Fellowship in 1983. She is also the founder and director of the Greater Philadelphia Christian Writers Conference (GPCWC), held in August at the Philadelphia Biblical University in Langhorne, Pa. She has directed the Colorado Christian Writer's Conference since 1997. Bagnull has served on the faculty of over 70 Christian writers conferences and has taught over 50 one and two-day writing seminars coast to coast. In May 1999, she received an honorary Doctor of Letters for her ministry through the written word and work equipping Christian writers. Dynamic workshops and facilitators will provide participants with information on writing and marketing strategies. Paid critique sessions are also available. Rates are $20 for youth (ages 10-18), $40 for adults (ages 19-61), and $25 for seniors (ages 62+). The registration packet includes two workshops, a continental breakfast and lunch. Participants may register up to the day of the conference, however, a $5 late fee is required after Sept. 30.
