Celebrate Recovery program Celebrate Recovery, a step program which claims Jesus Christ as its Higher Power, is meeting at St. John's United Methodist Church, Pine and Poplar Streets, on Tuesdays at 7p.m. in Room 14. Women's Ministries, Bible Study Women's Ministries and Bible Study meets Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. at The Salvation Army in Seaford, next to Food Lion. Girl Guard/Sunbeam Camp The Salvation Army in Seaford invites all girls entering 3rd through 12th grades to Girl Guard/Sunbeam Camp at The Salvation Army June 27-30 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Camp includes lunch. There is no fee for this camp, but you may only enroll if you are planning to commit to being part of the Girl Guard/Sunbeam Program September 2011 through June 2012.The program meets during the school year on Wednesday evenings from 6 to 8 and includes dinner. ICRIS, Under Command in concert If you like music with a classic rock edge, then you'll love "Under Command," on Saturday, June 25. VBS at Centenary UMC Centenary United Methodist Church, Poplar & Market Sts., Laurel, will hold Vacation Bible School, "Inside Out and Upside Down on Main Street," from June 27 to July 1, 9 to 11:30 a.m. Children from the ages of 4 through 6th grade are welcome to attend. Each day children will learn through the Bible story, music, songs, crafts, games and snacks. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged. Register by picking up a form at the church office. Lewis receives scholarship The Rev. Julie A. Lewis, Laurel, was one of 11 women chosen to receive the 2011-2012 Georgia Harkness Scholarship. Rev. Lewis is preparing for ordination as an elder in The United Methodist Church and the scholarship will assist her in her studies at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. Rev. Lewis and the other 10 Georgia Harkness scholars will attend the UMC Continuing Educators Annual Meeting in Miami, Fla. The seminary scholarships go to women over 35 who are preparing for ordination as elders in The United Methodist Church as a second career. The recipients are chosen by a committee of United Methodist elders and GBHEM staff. Rev. Lewis is serving Trinity United Methodist Church, Laurel, in the Peninsula-Delaware Conference.

Old Christ Church schedule Old Christ Church in Laurel announces the following services and events for the remainder of 2011.

    Gospel Cafe Every Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. there is a Gospel Cafe in the Fellowship Hall at Laurel Baptist Church. Free Christian entertainment, live bands, local talent. Everyone is welcome. The church is located at 33056 Bi-State Blvd., Laurel.

    Outdoor Gospel Musical Festival An Outdoor Gospel Musical Festival will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church on Old Stage Road, Laurel. Music will be provided by Charlie and The Olivet String Band, Good News Tour, Amanda Jones, Sounds of Joy, Stu and Yvonne Moore, and The Lights of Home. Bring your lawn chairs and an appetite as we will be serving hamburgers, hotdogs, homemade ice cream and much more.     July 4th Prayer Breakfast The Laurel Ministerial Association is sponsoring the July 4th Prayer Breakfast, which kicks off the town's 4th of July celebration, at 7:30 a.m., at the Georgia House in Laurel.     Trip to Camden Yards Centenary United Methodist Church (Sunshine Sunday School Class) is sponsoring a baseball trip to Camden Yards, Saturday, Aug. 27, to see the Orioles vs. Yankees. Game time is 1:05 p.m. Bus leaves Centenary Church parking lot at 8 a.m. sharp.Cost of the trip is $55, which includes the bus trip and ticket. Great seats.
