Recreational Night at Trinity UMC Trinity UMC near Trap Pond in Laurel will be having Recreational Night (Rec night) every Tuesday when school is in session. These events will start at 6:30 p.m. and end at 8.

Father Daughter Dance Mt. Olivet UMC Father Daughter Dance tickets are available. The dance will be held Friday, Jan. 28, from 7 to 9:30 p.m., at the Seaford Volunteer Fire Dept. For tickets, which are $7.50 each, contact David and Becky Genshaw at 629-9014.

Weekly Bible Study A weekly Bible study is being held every Wednesday night from 7:15-8:15 p.m. at the Days Inn, Rt. 13 South, Seaford (next to KFC). Family oriented Bible lessons for all ages. Hymn Sing There will be a Hymn Sing at Shiloh Community Church, Shiloh Church Rd., east of Laurel, on Sunday, Jan. 9, at 6 p.m. Providing the music for the evening will be The Baptist Boys from the Princess Anne area. Bible Study St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Seaford is conducting a Bible Study every Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Parish House.

Free weekly soup social A free weekly soup social is held every Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, 510 S. Central Ave., Laurel. All are welcome. For more information, call the church office daily, 9 a.m. to noon, at 875-4233.

Benefit Concert for Jerry Jones On Saturday, Jan. 8 at 6:30 p.m. there will be a benefit concert to help raise money for Gospel Singer Jerry Jones as he battles cancer. Featured artists are Tom Slaughter, Tex and Mary Ann, Sounds of Joy and Bud Scott. The concert will be held at Seaford Wesleyan Church, The Ark, located at 26630 Sussex Hwy., Seaford. Bible Study at Union Church An eight-week video-based disciple Bible Study of the Old Testament will begin Sunday, Jan. 9, at Union Church in Bridgeville. The study will be held at the church parsonage from 6 to 7:30 p.m. This study approaches the Hebrew Scriptures by inviting participants to hear the story of God and God's calling of the people of Israel through the many "voices" of the biblical text. 'Lightning Strikes' at Lighthouse A new Christian Concert series, "Lightning Strikes," will begin in 2011 at The Lighthouse Church on Kaye Road in Laurel. Every third Saturday night of the month at 7 p.m., Christian bands will play. The hottest musical styles will be represented: rock, hip/hop, rap, blues and more. "The Gorillas of Gospel" will perform on Jan. 15.Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; the cost is $4 per person. Gospel Extravaganza A Gospel Extravaganza will be held at John Wesley United Methodist Church, Seaford, on Sunday, Jan. 9 at 4 p.m. The event will feature the Homecoming Choir and the Men's Choir of Mt. Calvary A.M.E. Church, Concord and a liturgical dance performed by India Thomas of East New Market, Md. This event is sponsored by the Worship Committee. There will be a free will offering.
