Two ministries host Thanksgiving dinner
Two Millsboro ministries, St. Mark's Episcopal Church and the Ark of Refuge are hosting a Community Thanksgiving Dinner from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24. The Ark of Refuge, a ministry formed to provide hot meals and fellowship to shut -ins and staffed by volunteers from several local churches, is preparing a sit-down feast for all who would like to join them in the spirit of a community giving thanks. Larry Joseph, the head of the Ark of Refuge, stresses that this is not a charity dinner but a community dinner and want everyone to know that they are welcome. Indeed, not to discourage anyone who might feel guilty about eating free food, Joseph said there will be a donation plate. The meal is however, free. The Ark's goal is to fellowship and to give thanks, and the more people, the more fellowship and the more to be thankful for. To that end, Joseph said that they will try to arrange transportation for anyone who needs it. The partner in this endeavor is St. Mark's Episcopal Church. Not only is it providing the location for the feast, but it is also offering a worship service before hand. Starting at 10 a.m., there will be a traditional Episcopal Thanksgiving service Ñ similar to what would have been offered at the "first" Thanksgiving in Jamestown, almost 400 years ago. St. Mark's is located at the corner of Washington and State streets in downtown Millsboro. Anyone wanting transportation or more information should call Joseph at 381-2143.
