Benefit for Ryan Passwaters
There will be a Country Gospel Music Benefit for Ryan Passwaters on Saturday, Nov. 12, starting at 2 p.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church on Rt. 9, between Laurel and Georgetown. Music will be provided by Jerry Jones, The King's Ambassadors, Earl Hoopes, Kathy Wright and Laura Mitchell. Ryan is a six-year-old boy with Cerebral Palsy and is in need of a specific bed. This bed will provide safety and allow him to sleep alone. However, the bed is in excess of $5,000 and insurance will not cover it. Following the music there will be food served at the Asbury Community House across the road from the church. For more information call Jerry or Jeannie Jones at 629-9689.

Mt. Olivet UMC homecoming
On Sunday, Nov. 13, Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church in Seaford will celebrate homecoming on its 175th anniversary. The Rev. Dr. Sandral Steiner Ball, Dover District Superintendent of the Peninsula Delaware Conference, will be the guest preacher at the services. Dr. Ball was appointed in 2001 after having served Kent Island Methodist Church and St. Luke's United Methodist Church in St. Michaels, Md. She now resides in Milford with her husband, Barry, and two daughters, Sarah and Becky. During the service those who have been members 50 years or more will be honored.

Woodland UMC homecoming
The homecoming service for Woodland United Methodist Church will be Sunday, Nov. 13, at 2:30 p.m. Former pastor at Woodland Church, the Rev. Romie Payne will be guest speaker and gospel singer, Jerry Jones, will provide the special music.

The Greater Love Quartet
The Greater Love Quartet, a southern gospel quartet from Virginia, will be in concert on Sunday, Nov. 13, at 6 p.m. at the Seaford Church of the Nazarene, 520 South Dual Highway, Seaford. Harvest of Hope Concert
Harvest of Hope Gospel Concert featuring many gospel groups and liturgical dancers will be held on Saturday, Nov. 19, at 4 p.m. at Lifeway Church of God on Rt. 404, Bridgeville. This event is sponsored by Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church. Each person is asked to bring a canned good or nonperishable item to the concert. These items will be collected to help the needy over the holidays. A free will offering will be taken. The event will be hosted by Mel O'D of Heaven 1600 AM Rejoice radio. Covered dish dinner
On Saturday, Nov. 12, Union United Methodist Church, 2 Laws St., Bridgeville, will have its annual fall covered dish dinner and auction in the fellowship hall. The event is sponsored by the finance committee. Tickets will be available at the door for $5 for adults and $2.50 for children ages 4 through 10 plus a covered dish per family. Meat will be provided. Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. with the auction to follow at 6:30 p.m. Richard Lindale will be the auctioneer. Items include power tools, antiques, small appliances, gift certificates and culinary treats. The public is invited.

St. Johnstown homecoming
St. Johnstown United Methodist Church of Greenwood will celebrate its 226th anniversary and homecoming on Sunday, Nov. 13. The church is located one mile east of Greenwood. The service will be at 2 p.m. Friends and members are invited to hear June Bostick, a past member and historian, speak. Special music will be provided by "Gospel Gents" and "Tangle Roots." The Rev. James Bongard is pastor of the church. Coffee hour will follow the service.

Nazarene Church visitors
The Royal Lights from Cambridge, Md., will be at the United Church of the Nazarene, 4718 Jackson St., Hurlock, Md., on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 7 p.m. The public is invited. St. John AME holds Social
The youth department of St.John AME Zion Church (Ross Point) in Laurel, will sponsor an Ole Fashion Social on Friday, Nov. 11, at 7 p.m. There will be fish platters with potato salad, string beans, corn bread, roll and drink, hot dogs, hot sausages, chips, desserts, games, singing and fellowship. No Name Band at Grace UMC

Annual Fall Hymn Sing
The Galestown U.M.C. Church annual Fall Hymn Sing will take place Sunday, Dec. 4, at 2 p.m. Special music will be provided by The King's Ambassadors. A buffet style hot dinner will be served immediately following the service at the Galestown Community Center. The Rev. Dan Walker is the minister.
