Bay Foundation Training
The Chesapeake Bay Foundation is offering its adult education/CBF volunteer training program "VoiCeS," Volunteers as Chesapeake Stewards, starting in January. The program is designed to create a deeper understanding of the Bay and the efforts needed to restore it. Successful graduates receive CBF's designation as Chesapeake Stewards. This year's programs will be held in both Annapolis and Cambridge. The training includes an eight-week course of study, with one three-hour class each week, and a service requirement of 40 hours devoted to a Bay-related project to be completed within one year. Classes cover a wide range of topics, including Bay ecology and history, wetlands, fisheries, land use, and advocacy. There is no fee to enroll in the VoiCeS training program; participants instead are asked to commit to completing both program components. Pre-registration is required. Training dates are: in Cambridge: 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Saturdays, until March 11.
