b>Corkran joins Nanticoke

The Nanticoke Physician Network is proud to welcome Wendy Corkran, APRN, CNP, to its active medical staff. Corkran joins Dr. Gorgui at Nanticoke Primary Care Delmar and is accepting patients ages 14 and up.
Corkran received her bachelor of science in nursing and master of science in nursing, family nurse practitioner from Wilmington University in Georgetown. She brings 13 years of experience as a registered nurse in a variety of settings including outpatient primary care, acute care clinical nursing and case management. She is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

Free weight loss seminars

Nanticoke Weight Loss & General Surgery will host free weight loss seminars on Monday, Aug. 14 at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 26 at 10:30 a.m., at the Nanticoke Training Center located within the Miller Building at 121 S. Front St., Seaford.
These seminars are designed to provide education to individuals considering weight loss surgery to help them make informed decisions on whether surgery is an appropriate option.
The seminars consist of educational presentations by Dr. Tarek Waked to inform individuals about the many benefits of weight loss surgery.

Patients and their spouses, family members or friends are welcome to attend. Registration is required.

Coalition honors task force

At its recent meeting, the Sussex County Health Coalition, in partnership with the Delaware Center for Health Innovation, honored the members of the Healthier Sussex County Task Force with the 2017 Sussex County Health Innovation Award.
Accepting their respective awards for health innovation were: Terry M. Murphy, FACHE, president and chief executive officer, Bayhealth; Jeffrey M. Fried FACHE, president & chief executive officer, Beebe Healthcare; Steven A. Rose, RN, MN, president & chief executive officer, Nanticoke Health Services; and Rosa Rivera, chief operations officer, accepting on behalf of Brian S. Olson, chief executive officer, La Red Health Center.
The coalition recognized the one year anniversary of its partnership with the Delaware Center for Health Innovation.In addition, one of the coalition's founding board members,Beth Freeh, was honored for her 10 years of service.
