Lymphedema Support Group Nanticoke Rehabilitation Services hosts lymphedema support groups on the third Thursday of each month at the Seaford Library and Cultural Center from 1:30 to 3 p.m. This months meeting will be held on Thursday, Feb. 16. This free support group is open to anyone affected by lymphedema including patients, caregivers, and relatives. Meetings will consist of a lecture by health care professionals and medical equipment providers followed by refreshments and an open question and answer session or discussion amongparticipants. Parkinsons Support Group Nanticoke Health Services, in conjunction with CHEER and Care DE and the Manor House, will hold a Parkinsons education and support group on Thursday, Feb. 16 from 9:30 to 11 a.m., at the Manor House located at 1001 Middleford Rd., Seaford. This support group is free and open to the public. The group is not only helpful for the individual diagnosed with PD, but also for caregivers, friends and family. Group members welcome guest speakers on a variety of subjects related to PD and provide support to each other through other small group discussions. MHA names board of directors The Mental Health Association in Delaware (MHA) has announced its officers of the board of directors for 2017. Serving as president is Lawrence G. Boyer, DuPont retiree; J. Carlton Gardner Jr., director of pediatrics, emeritus, Nermous/A.I. duPont Hospital for Children will serve as vice president; Cherya A. Santaniello, Esq., associate attorney, Young Conaway Stargatt & Taylor of PNC Bank is treasurer; and Patricia Daniels will serve as secretary. Dr. Gireesh received his doctor of medicine from the Saba University School of Medicine in Saba, Netherlands Antilles. Journaling For Wellness On Wednesday, Feb. 8 at 3 p.m., Cancer Support Community DE and Nanticoke Cancer Care Center will collaborate to offer a free workshop, Journaling For Wellness. Journaling is one way that cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers can care for themselves. Writing down your thoughts gives you an opportunity to work out your feelings and emotions, which may help you relax and find reasons to be happier and more hopeful about the future. Diabetes Education Program Nanticoke Memorial Hospital will host a four-session diabetes education program, The Diabetes Connection, on Feb. 7, 14, 21 and 28 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. As a person with diabetes, Nanticoke can be part of your healthcare team to help teach you the self-care skills needed to keep you on track. Our four-session diabetic program includes weekly education sessions in a group setting.One family member or significant other is welcome to attend. Pre-registration is required.
