City of Seaford joins in effort to 'Light It Up Blue'

By Mike McClure

The City of Seaford held its Light It Up Blue ceremony last Wednesday at Gateway Park, joining other governments and businesses throughout the state as part of Autism Awareness month.

The park was lit up in blue in an effort to increase awareness of the challenges faced by people with Autism.

One in 68 kids in the United States has Autism including 1,208 Delaware public school students.

"It's awesome when our community comes together for something like this," said Seaford Mayor David Genshaw. City, county, and state proclamations were read during the ceremony.

The Windley family has been instrumental in organizing Seaford's ceremony the past three years. The city has 27 participating businesses.
