Laurel Time Capsule
The Laurel Historical Society will be burying a Time Capsule, during
the July 4th festivities in the year 2000, in a location yet to be
determined, within the Town of Laurel. It is the intention of the
society to have the capsule buried for 100 years. The Time Capsule
was donated to the society by the Short Funeral Homes, Inc. of 700
West St ., Laurel, through the help of Edward Hannigan, manager of
the Laurel facility.
Everyone in the community is invited to place something within the
capsule for the future residents of this community.
capsule measures 36" long, 15" wide and 15" deep. Therefore, size
restrictions will have to be made so everyone will be able to place
something within the capsule. The society is asking that all items
be flat and thoroughly documented: especially if the item is a photograph.
Try to identify the person, place or item by using names, dates, spouses,
etc. In this way, our descendants will have an idea of what our town
and its people looked like in 2000.
All items to be placed within the Time Capsule may be sent to Richard
Hutchinson, chairperson, at P.O. Box 350, Bethel, DE 19931. Due to
size restrictions, the society will have the final decision on items
to be included.
