Play Time for Toddlers
The “Parents As Teachers” program (PAT) invites parents and their children from birth to age three to a free “Stay and Play Center” at Seaford Dept. of Parks & Recreation (SDPR) on Virginia Avenue. Sessions will be on Mondays from 10:30 a.m. to noon. (Closed on school holidays.) The center provides an opportunity for parents and caretakers with young children to play together and discuss any parenting questions with a parent educator. Other services include a lending library of children’s and parenting books and evening group meetings on a variety of topics. For more information, call Cris Henderson at 875-2781.

Seaford given good report by city auditors
The city of Seaford is on solid financial footing, according to its most recent audit. Last week, members of the city council received copies of the audit, conducted by Pigg, Krahl, Stern and Co., auditors in Salisbury, Md.
Certified public accountants Boyd Bounds and Leslie Michalik spoke during the regular council meeting on Nov. 25. Their report showed that the bulk of the city’s income, more than 75 percent, comes from charges for services such as electricity, water and sewer. About 68 percent of the city’s expenses are generated through providing those services.
Net assets at the end of the fiscal year ending June 30, 2003, were $36,535,825.
