Concert in Salisbury
The Salisbury University Wind Ensemble holiday concert 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, in Holloway Hall Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public.
Family Night Party
Western Sussex Boys & Girls Club Family Night Christmas Party, Friday, Dec. 19, 7-9 p.m. Santa Claus will pay a visit to the party and there will be a Santa’s Secret Workshop from 7-8:30 p.m. Membership is not required to attend Family Nights each Friday night at the Boys & Girls Club and there is no admission fee.

Governor’s Open House
Gov. Ruth Ann Minner’s annual Christmas Open House, Saturday, Dec. 6, noon-2 p.m., woodburn - The Governor’s House, 151 Kings Highway, Dover. The house will be decorated for the Christmas season and guests will be greeted by Gov. Minner and entertained by holiday music. Gingerbread cookies and punch will be served, and Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on hand.

New Year’s Breakfast

AARP to meet Dec. 11

Seaford Golf and Country Club is the setting for the Nanticoke Health Services Auxiliary meeting on Friday, Dec. 12. Refreshments ($3) will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the business meeting begins at 10 a.m. Lori Smoot will speak on the scholarship program for Nanticoke Hospital. Lions District Ball
The Lions District 22-D Governors Ball will be held at the Sheraton Dover Hotel on Saturday, Dec. 6. District Gov. Don LeCates and First Lady Carol will be honored. International Director Lion Scott Neeley from West Virginia will address the dinner. Dancing to the music of “the Honeycombs.” Tickets are $30.
Laurel Toy Drive
Laurel Police Department is in the process of organizing a Toy Drive for the Christmas Holiday. Its goal is “No Kid Without A Toy For Christmas.” They will be working with school nurses to see that the toys go to families that are truly in need. LPD is asking for donations of new, unwrapped toys. Donations may be dropped off at the Laurel Police Department Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., or contact Sgt. Jamie Wilson at 875-2244. The drive will run until Dec. 23.
Toys for Tots
Coldwell Banker Broadcreek Realty, Regional Builders, Inc. and Long & Foster are local drop-off points for the Toys for Tots program. This program, conducted by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, collects and distributes toys to needy children.
