Ninety and Nine to hold Christmas dinner
The Ninety & Nine invites women to its annual Christmas dinner at the Seaford Golf & Country Club on Monday, Dec. 6, at 6:30 p.m.
The Ninety & Nine is a ministry which was formed in 1984 by a group of women who care about the needs of others.
The speaker will be Barbara Wilson from Laurel. Wilson taught in the public school system and Delaware Technical & Community College for 30 years.
She retired in 1991 and on July 4, was appointed pastor of the Laurel-Mt. Pleasant Charge.
Music will be provided by Esther Marval.

Trip to Sight & Sound theater is planned
Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, Laurel, is sponsoring a trip to "The Miracle of Christmas Show" at the Sight and Sound Theater in Lancaster, Pa. on Saturday, Dec. 18.
The cost of $71 includes transportation by Savages' bus service, buffet meal, ticket to the show, shopping stop at Rockvale Mall and a short tour of holiday lighting in Lancaster.

Church activity will give parents night out
The Seaford Presbyterian Church is sponsoring a Parents Night Out program.
Children in kindergarten through sixth grade are invited to attend "Christmas is Coming" on Friday, Dec. 3, from 6 to 9 p.m. To obtain more information or register (must be registered), call Sandy at 628-9808.
Dinner will be provided. There is no charge for this program.
A parent must bring and pick up the child.

Church to stage a live nativity scene
Providence United Methodist Church, Shortly Road, Georgetown, will hold its second annual live nativity Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 4 and 5, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Animals and music will be featured and refreshments will be served.

Pianist to perform at First Baptist, Seaford
G. Richard Deal, concert pianist and recording artist, will present a sacred piano concert at First Baptist Church, Seaford, Sunday, Dec. 5, at 7 p.m. He will give a second performance at the Seaford Christian Academy on Dec. 6.
Deal is from the Chicago, Ill., area and has presented nearly 1,900 sacred and classical piano concerts in Europe, Asia, North and South America, including numerous solo concerts in the United States.
He has also performed with symphony orchestras including an appearance at Chicago's historic Orchestra Hall.
He is a graduate of the American Conservatory of Music, the Moody Bible Institute and the Sherwood Conservatory, all of Chicago.
He has been a participant in several international piano competitions including the Tchaikovsky Piano Competition in Moscow, Russia. He arranges his own sacred piano arrangements and has released five professional recordings.
The most recent one is entitled "Piano Favorites," a collection of favorite classical selections.
The church is located at 543 N. Bradford St. Admission is free.
Women' association plans celebration
The Seaford Presbyterian Women's Association is holding a Christmas celebration, "The Birth of Christ in Scripture and Carol," on Sunday, Dec. 12, at 3 p.m.
All women are invited.
Toiletries will be collected for local shelters. The church is located on Bridgeville Road.

Church to sponsor holiday craft show
St. Stephens Church, State Street, Delmar, Del., is hosting its Christmas in Camelot fair on Saturday, Dec. 4, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the church's Camelot Hall.
Available will be crafts, gifts and a bake table. Refreshments will be served.

Tradition ushers in Christmas season
Christ United Methodist Church, Laurel, will hold its traditional hanging of the greens Sunday, Dec. 5, beginning at 5:30 p.m. with a covered dish dinner, then following with a 7 p.m. service in the sanctuary.
During the service, greenery will be hung on the sanctuary doors, pulpit and altar. Two wreaths will be placed on either side of the altar.
Members of the children's choir, chancel choir and a trumpeter will perform and the story of the birth of Christ will be told.
Kay Jones, altar chairwoman, will direct the program. Lucy Lutz will coordinate the covered dish dinner.
Music will be directed by Calvin Hearn, and Robert Lewis accompanied by Betty Gilmore.

Jericho to present weight loss expert
Jericho International will present weight loss program instructor Donna Lucia Downs Tuesday, Dec. 14, 7 p.m. at Mt. Olivet Church, Seaford.
Downs, Centreville, Md., is an instructor with Weigh Down, a Christian-based program which helps people lose weight.
Recently, Downs, who lost 95 pounds through the program, and her husband Tom, who lost 75 pounds, appeared on television.
Downs will sing two songs from her new CD, "Remnant," accompanied by the music group "Myrrh." For more information call 302-629-5654.

Shiloh Ministries to be introduced
On Sunday, Dec. 5, from 2 to 5 p.m., an open house will be held at the home of Randy and Barbara Walter to introduce Shiloh Ministries, which is being developed as a disciplining and training program for single mothers and their children.

The 1999 Horizon Award-winning Dove Brothers Quintet will appear at Bethel Mt. Zion Church Saturday, Dec. 4, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Admission is free.
