Church Fish Fry
St. John AME Zion Church, Ross Point, Laurel, will have a fish fry, Friday, Nov. 5, 7 p.m. Sponsored by the church membership.

Auxiliary Yard, Bake Sale
Laurel Ladies Auxiliary, of American Legion Unit 19, yard and bake sale, Saturday, Nov. 6, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the legion home, 12116 Laurel Road. Sale will be held inside the Post home.

Portsville Church Bazaar
Portsville United Methodist Church Bazaar, Saturday, Nov. 6. The church is located three miles west of Laurel on Portsville Road and Dogwood Lane. Bazaar features white elephant table, country store, bake table; and lunch from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. with oyster fritters, hot dogs, chicken salad, soup and an assortment of pies. Doors open at 8 a.m.

LVFD Open House Nov. 7
Laurel Volunteer Fire Department open house and fire prevention awards program, Sunday, Nov. 7, 1 to 4 p.m., at the fire station. 2003 poster and essay contest winners will be present.
Journey for Sight
Laurel Lions Club’s 17th annual “Pet Culver Memorial Journey for Sight” Sunday, Nov. 7, Trap Pond State Park. Registration is 12:15 p.m.; walk begins at 1 p.m. The walk is five miles. Funds generated are used for eye exams, eyeglasses, hearing aids and diabetic needs. Trophies and medals will be awarded for outstanding individual and team efforts. A picnic will follow. All clubs or organizations with team of five or more will receive a 50 percent rebate on money turned in on Nov. 2. Call John Bennett at 875-4675 (home) or 443-359-0195 (work).

Motorcycle poker run to benefit Bobby Cross
The Red Knights Motorcycle Club (Maryland Chapter 3) will have a benefit poker run for Laurel’s Bobby Cross on Saturday, Nov. 13, with registration starting at 10:30 a.m. at the Old Mill Crab House in Delmar. The run will start at 11 a.m. with awards at 1:30 p.m. There will be a cash prize for the best hand, a 50/50 and door prizes. Cross was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident on his way from Laurel to Bike Week in Ocean City and has no medical insurance. For more information, contact Doug Jones at 443-880-6611.

Chinese Auction in Laurel

St. Paul’s Yard Sale
St. Paul’s U.M.C. Youth Group Yard Sale on Nov.13, 7 a.m., 32827 Old Stage Road, Laurel. There will be a little bit of everything. Aids their going to the youth rally in Ocean City, Md., in January 2005.
