Craft vendors wanted
A fall/Christmas craft show will be held in the Laurel Senior High School gym on Nov. 4. To reserve a space, contact Trudy Pusey at 875-6120, ext. 214, or mail checks to Laurel Senior High School, 1133 S. Central Ave., Laurel, DE 19956. Single rental space (approximately 8 feet) is $20 and double rental space (16 feet) is $35.

Kids can learn to juggle
Carlos Mir, a professional juggler, will come to the Laurel Public Library on Saturday, Nov. 4, at 11 a.m. to perform and to teach kids the art of juggling. Children are asked to bring three socks which he magically turns into juggling balls. Mir will provide a half-hour of instruction, and a half-hour for the kids to try juggling several different kinds of objects.

Citizen of Year banquet
Delmar's Citizen of the Year dinner and dance honoring the Citizen of the Year 2000, Mary Lee Pase, will be Saturday, Nov. 4, at Delmar Fire Hall. A reception will be at 6 p.m., introductions at 6:45, followed by dinner at 7 and an 8 p.m. program. Dancing will begin at 9 and go to midnight.This is sponsored by the Greater Delmar Chamber of Commerce. Tickets may be purchased by mail at: P.O. Box 416, Delmar, DE 19940, or at the following locations: Wilmington Trust, Paradise Tanning, Town Hall, Gordy Fuel, or Bank of Delmarva. Cost is $19.50 per person.

Journey for Sight Nov. 5
The Laurel Lions Club Journey For Sight will be Sunday, Nov. 5, at Trap Pond State Park in Laurel. Registration will be at 12:30 p.m. with the walk getting under way at 1:30 p.m. The 5.2-mile course winds through the scenic nature trail. Sponsor sheets may be obtained from Laurel Petroleum, the Insurance Market, O'Neals Jewelry Store, Dr. Adiarte's office or by calling Lion Jim Littleton at 875-1153. In case of bad weather, the walk will be held at the Laurel High School.

Lioness plan bake sale Nov. 4
The Laurel Lioness Club will hold a bake sale Saturday, Nov. 4, beginning at 8 a.m. in front of French's Supervalue Store. Profits from this sale will benefit the community.
Yard sale set for Nov. 4
A yard sale will be held Saturday, Nov. 4, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Delaware Avenue extended, Laurel, across the street from O'Neals Lumber Yard shop. Collectibles, building material and glassware will be featured. Rain date is Saturday, Nov. 11.

Lioness club selling nuts
The Laurel Lioness Club is selling nuts again this year as a fund-raiser. A 20-ounce bag of black walnuts costs $8; a 1-pound bag of whole cashews is $7.50 and a 1-pound bag of pecans is $7.50. A tray of four kinds of nuts is $8. Orders may be placed with any Lioness member or by calling Charlotte Givens at 875-7450; Shirley Skinner at 875-4325; Billie Jane Wheatley, 875-3872. The club is also raffling a Longaberger basket. Tickets for this may also be purchased from any Lioness member.

Calendars on sale
The Laurel Historical Society announces the publication of the 2001 edition of the Limited Edition, numbered calendar. Fourteen photos from the Waller collection are included depicting events in Laurel from the late 1800s till the 1960s. They will be on sale at Wilmington Trust, Maxine's Hair Happenings, Walt's Barber Shop, Laurel Trading Post, Town Hall, RJ Riverside Restaurant, Bank of Delmarva, The Insurance Market and Delaware National Bank. Price is $9.

Basket bingo planned
The Laurel Historical Society will host a basket bingo party Nov. 14, at the Laurel Fire Hall. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., games begin at 7, with 20 bingo games. Cost is $15 in advance, or $20 at the door. There will be a raffle for a large hamper with lid.
