Gospel concert set for Nov. 3
United Bible Deliverance Center, Laurel, will host a Gospel Extravaganza Saturday, Nov. 3, at 7:30 p.m. Proceeds from an offering will benefit Gladys and Skip Briggs, who were burned out of their home on Oct. 1. Donations can also be made to the Briggs Family Fire Fund, c/o Seaford Federal Credit Union, P.O. Box 120, Seaford, DE 19973.

Portsville bazaar planned
The annual fall bazaar sponsored by Portsville Church United Methodist Women will be Saturday, Nov. 4, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church hall. Lunch featuring vegetable soup, oyster fritters, chicken salad and hot dog sandwiches and homemade pie will be served beginning at 11 a.m. A drawing for a handcrafted Christmas tree skirt is set for 2 p.m. The church is located 3 miles west of Laurel at Portsville Road and Dogwood Lane.

Election day lunch set
Our Lady of Lourdes Church will host an election day luncheon at the hall, 528 Stein Highway, Seaford, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Carry outs will be available. Call 629-2806 for more information.

Hollis to speak at breakfast
John Hollis of the Seaford Boys and Girls Club will be the guest speaker at the One Nation Under God Prayer Breakfast which will be held at Christ United Methodist Church on Central Avenue in Laurel on Saturday, Nov. 11.

Healing service planned
The Mt. Pleasant Charge will hold a Prayer, Healing and Reconciliation Service on Nov. 11, at 7 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Church, Laurel. It is open to anyone who has a need for this service.

Free seminar at Christ UMC
Ralph M. Todd, a registered representative of Fortis Investors Inc., will speak on managing money Sunday, Nov. 5, at 6:30 p.m., at Christ United Methodist Church, Laurel. His talk will follow a covered-dish dinner, which will be served at 5:30 p.m.

Todd received his MBA degree, was a mid-manager in several large companies and now owns and operates Todd's Financial Services Inc., where he helps people and businesses to save money through investing, insurance and tax savings. He is also manager of his family's business, Todd's Income Tax and Accounting Services Inc.

He will present information on family budgeting and the basics of investing and tax savings. An interesting twist will be his presentation on the Christian perspective of money management, including setting Christian financial goals, striving toward tithing and charitable giving.

Some of the topics Todd will present are based on Larry Burkett's "Christian Financial Concepts Series." His talk is free and open to the public.

Promise Keepers breakfast set
An all-you-can-eat breakfast served by the Centenary Promise Keepers will be Saturday, Nov. 4, from 7 to 10 a.m., at Centenary U.M.Church.
Cost for adults is $5; for children 6 to 12, $3; and free for children under 6.
Drivers to be honored
The Men's Day Committee of Mt. Calvary AME Church in Concord will hold a service on Sunday, Nov. 5, at 3:30 p.m. to honor bus and truck drivers. The speaker will be the Rev. Calvin O. Price of Antioch AME Church, Frankford, and music will be provided by the Crusaders. Dinner will be served after the service.

Snethen Church to hold social
The Snethen Church Social will be held on Saturday, Nov. 11, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Food available will be oyster, chicken salad, hamburger and hot dog sandwiches; oyster platters with chicken salad, potato salad, green beans and roll; baked goods, vegetable soup and dumplings and homemade ice cream. Carry outs will be available.

The church is located on Rt. 54, 2 miles east of the Rt. 50 stoplight at Mardela or 8 miles west of the US 13 stoplight in Delmar.

Melson's to hold bazaar
Melson's United Methodist Church's 16th annual Harvest of Talents Bazaar will be held on Saturday, Nov. 11, from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Melson's Community Hall, 32704 Melson Road, Delmar, Md., approximately 5 miles east of Delmar.

Shops will include crafts, Christmas, country store, woodshed and "Pots & Petals." The Country Kitchen will serve breakfast sandwiches and a light lunch of oyster sandwiches and homemade soup. For information, call 846-2431.

Galestown to hold hymn sing
Galestown United Methodist Church will hold a fall harvest hymn sing Sunday, Nov. 12, at 2 p.m. Following the service there will be sweets and refreshments at the rear of the church. For information call 410-883-2149.

St. Johnstown service set
St. Johnstown United Methodist Church, first organized in 1779 and located east of Greenwood on old King's Highway, will host its annual homecoming on Nov. 12, at 2 p.m. The Rev. Everett Isaacs, a former pastor, will speak.

Activities are being arranged by a committee, chaired by Dorothy Lofland. Homecoming announcements, dating from 1930, will be on display along with pictures and newspaper clippings highlighting St. Johnstown's historical past.
