Dance and auction set
The Delmar Fire Department will hold a benefit dance and silent auction for one of its members. Kevin Morris has undergone heart surgery and has other health problems. The benefit will help with the medical bills he has incurred. The dance will be from 8 p.m. to midnight, at the Delmar fire house on Saturday, Nov. 1. The cost will be $10 per person. Chamber holding raffle
The Delmar Chamber of Commerce is selling raffle tickets to help raise money for community events. The first winner will receive $500, the second will receive $300, and the third will receive $200. A total of $1,000 will be given away. Tickets can be purchased at the Delmar Town Hall, the Cookie Bouquet in Delmar or from any chamber member. Book and bake sale set
The Friends of the Delmar Public Library will hold a Book and Bake Sale on Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Delmar Public Library. They will be selling previously owned books as well as new books donated by patrons. They will offer books in regular print and larger print. Some audio books, videos, paperbacks, and some children’s non-fiction books will be for sale. There will be baked goods donated by the Friends of the Library for purchase at the event. This is a fund-raiser for the library which they have in the spring and again in the fall. The funds from the sale will be used for programs for adults as well as children at the library which are free to the public. “I am looking forward to seeing everyone I know at the Book and Bake Sale on Nov. 1,” said Brian Cordrey, president of the Friends of the Delmar Public Library. During the last hour of the sale books will be available for $1 a bag. The prices start from 25 cents up to $1. This includes the new books that will be offered. The sale will be held from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Library to be closed
The Delmar Public Library will be closed several days in November. On Wednesday, Nov. 5, the library will close for an in-house staff development day. On Nov. 27, 28, and 29, the library will be closed for the Thanksgiving holidays. Materials can be returned during these days by using the front door drop slot.

Delmar Christmas Parade
Delmar’s Patriotic Christmas Parade will be held on Saturday, Nov. 29, at 4 p.m. It will be followed by the Carnival of Lights at 7 at State Street Park. There will be pony rides, fire truck rides, refreshments, crafts, games, a visit from santa and much more. Please bring a non perishable food item to help the needy families in the area. Join us as we light up the town following the parade. For more information call 302-846-3964. Applications for the parade can be picked up at the Town Hall or at Cookie Bouquet in the State Line Plaza. Rain date is Nov. 30, at 4 and 7 p.m. respectively.
