Galestown homecoming
The homecoming service will take place at Galestown United Methodist Church on Sunday, Oct. 17, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Drew Christian as the guest speaker. The singers will be Edward Warrington, The Gospel Gents and Randy Marine. A homestyle dinner will be served following the service. Phone 1-410-883-2149 for more information.

Concert at Macedonia AME
Macedonia AME Church, 431 North St., Seaford, will have a concert on Sunday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. featuring The Nichols Singers of Delmarva. There will be a free will offering and all are invited. Phone 629-9322 for more information.

Women’s Day Celebration
The Women’s Day Celebration will continue with a 5 p.m. service at the Eastern Shore Campground on Cokesbury Road, near Seaford, on Sunday, Oct. 24, with guest preacher the Rev. Cynthia Stanton from Cambridge, Md. The services are a continuation from services at Booker St. Church of God in Georgetown.

No Name Band at Grace UMC

Latin Mass at Holy Cross
A Latin mass according to the Missal of 1962 is celebrated on the third Sunday of every month at 3 p.m. at Holy Cross Church in Dover. The mass will be celebrated on Oct. 17. Bishop’s visiting St. Luke’s
On Sunday, Oct. 17, The Right Rev. Wayne Wright, Bishop of Delaware, will make his annual visitation to Luke’s Episcopal Church in Seaford. There will be one service at 10 a.m. at which time Bishop Wright will commission the acolytes, receive two people into the Episcopal communion and the entire congregation will re-affirm their baptismal vows. A reception will follow in the parish hall.

Pastor appreciation dinner
The Woodland United Methodist Church will hold its annual Pastor Appreciation Dinner on Sunday, Oct. 17, at 4 p.m. It will be a covered dish dinner. All are welcome.

Mt. Pisgah A.M.E. Men’s Day Mt. Pisgah A.M.E. Church will have its Men’s Day service on Sunday, Oct. 17, 11 a.m.-3:30 p.m., sponsored by The Sons of Allen.

Mt. Pleasant gospel music

Mt. Calvary parenting class
Sharpen your parenting skills. CHILD, INC. is offering a free six-week parent education class entitled, “Children Come Without Instructions,” every Monday evening from Oct. 25 until Nov. 29, at Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church’s Fellowship Hall, 28 Church Street, Bridgeville. Community Outreach Day
Community Outreach Day is Saturday, Oct. 30, at 10 a.m. at River of Life Christian Center, 17 West Market St., Greenwood. Mary & Martha Tea Room
Take My Hand Ministry, Inc. will sponsor the Mary and Martha Tea Room on Wednesday, Oct. 20, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. The event will take place at 102 Maryland Ave. in Greenwood. The guest speaker is Brenda J. Britt, R.N. of Dover. She will address women’s health issues. Pastor Minnie Harris of Dover will offer spiritual teaching. The event can accommodate 20 to 25 women. Mt. Olivet UMC dinner
Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church on High Street in Seaford will have its annual roast beef dinner on Friday, Oct. 22, from 5-7 p.m. Dinner will be served country style or take-out will also be available. Cost is $8.50 adults, $4.50 students, age 5 and under free. There will also be a silent auction. All proceeds benefit the United Methodist Women Mission Projects.

New Zion UMC service
The United Methodist Women of New Zion United Methodist Church will sponsor the sixth annual Breast Cancer Awareness Service on Sunday, Oct. 24, at 3:30 p.m. This worship service is dedicated to the recognition of breast cancer, with a focus on prevention. A special memorial is always given in memory of someone who has lost the fight to this disease. This year we are also honoring members of the congregation who are survivors. The 2004 honorees are Pauline Parker, Deborah Waller, Celeste Jackson and Pauline Hyland. Each of these ladies has witnessed first hand the power of medicine and the spirit of the Lord in their struggle to combat this disease. The message will be the Rev. Jean Wilson, a ministerial associate of Calvary Baptist Church in Dover. The Rev. Timothy Delffieid, Sr. is the host pastor. Dessert fellowship to follow in the church hall.

Christ Lutheran Oktoberfest
Christ Lutheran Church, located at the corner of Shipley and Spruce streets in Seaford, will be hosting an Oktoberfest celebration on Sunday, Oct. 31. The festival is free to all and will begin at 12:30 p.m. and conclude at 4 p.m. Food, games for all ages, live music, and comedy will fill the day’s schedule. Jillian in Concert at CRHS
Jillian will be in concert at Colonel Richardson Senior High School, Richardson Road, American Corner, Federalsburg, Md. on Oct. 22 and 23, at 7 p.m. Admission is free. Jilian Englund, a singer, songwriter, recording artists, author, poet, performer and international speaker, was crowned Queen of the Ms. Christian America Pageant and has become their national spokesperson for 2004. She draws her material from her own life experiences. Having been abandoned on a park bench at age 2, Jillian began her troubled journey through 12 foster homes, suffering physical and mental abuse along the way. Her situation seemed hopeless and led her down a path toward self-destruction until Hope revealed Himself to her. For more information call 410-822-7654.
