Town readies for festival honoring apples, scrapple
The ninth annual Apple-Scrapple Festival will be held in Bridgeville on Oct. 13 and 14. The small rural town, located 30 miles north of Salisbury, 30 miles south of Dover and 30 miles west of the resorts, will be the center of attraction for approximately 30,000 people on the second weekend in October.

Features will include live entertainment hourly, a scrapple carving contest, an apple-peeling contest, a new hog calling contest, an apple pie contest, craft shows, a health fair, a carnival, kids games, a car show, an antique tractor pull including a kiddie tractor-pull, a corn maze, pony rides, a trade show and an art show and sale.

New for this year will be a NASCAR radio-controlled raceway, and a scrapple chunking contest. There will be more foods than you can shake an apple at, including: apple dumplings, apple fritters, apple turnovers, apple pies, oyster sandwiches, pig roast, wings and fries, boardwalk fries with cheese, hot dogs, pit-beef sandwiches, barbecued chicken, barbecued pork, blooming onions, baked potatoes, nachoes, pretzels, Italian sausages, crab cakes, cheeseburgers, hand-dipped ice cream, original Italian ice, cheeseburgers, candies, cakes and drinks.

There will be a street dance on Friday with the variety band, "Encore," and a street dance on Saturday night featuring "The Funsters." The purpose of this festival is to help promote the area and help support its non-profit groups as well as help everyone attending have a great time. For more information call 349-4637 or 337-8131.

Class of 1990 to gather The Woodbridge High School class of 1990 will hold its 10-year reunion Saturday, Oct. 7, at the Greenwood Fire Hall. Social hour will start at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7. Cost is $25. For details, call Scott Webb, 349-4491, or Dawn Melson, 730-4294.

Forum to look at doctors

The Delaware Humanities Forum presents "Patients and Their Physicians: Ethical Considerations," at the Greenwood Public Library on Oct. 12, 7 p.m. Explore the moral concepts that are fundamental in the relationship between physician and patient.

Basket bingo set for Oct. 18

Bridgeville Fire Hall in Bridgeville will host a basket bingo, Oct. 18, 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $20, $25 at the door. Call 337-0381 or 337-7429.
