Horse model show is Oct. 9
The ninth annual Delmarva Live Model Horse Show will be Saturday, Oct. 9, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the Blades Firehouse, Blades. Plastic and china horse models will compete for prizes in halter, English and western performance classes, just like real horses.
Entrees are still being accepted for the junior/novice division. Fee for this division is $15 which includes halter and performance. Entries will be accepted on the day of the show only if space allows.
Exhibitors from several surrounding states will have booths set up. Drawings for raffle items will be at 3 p.m. The show benefits the Equine Rescue League, SPCA & Wicomico Humane Society. Bike-a-thon to fight cancer
Ron Breeding will call on Seaford residents to join the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Wheels For Life Bike-a-thon slated for Sunday, Oct. 10, at 2 p.m. at West Seaford Elementary School.
In the bike-a-thon, riders ask sponsored to make donations based on each mile completed. All riders turning in money will receive a certificate. Those who raise $35 will get a certificate and a St. Jude T-shirt. When $75 is raised, the rider receives a barrel tote bag as well as the certificate and the T-shirt. Also plans are being made to give a $100 savings bond to the top fund-raiser.

Perdues invited to reunion
The 59th annual Perdue Reunion will be Sunday, Oct. 10, at the Parsonsburg Community Hall. A buffet luncheon will begin at 2 p.m. followed by a meeting at 3 p.m. All Perdue descendants are welcome to attend. For more information, call 410-749-1723.

Restaurant helps B&G Club
The Western Sussex Boys and Girls Club is joining with the Golden Corral restaurant to recognize Fire Prevention Month. Members of western Sussex fire departments will be guest servers at the restaurant each Thursday in October and the first Thursday in November, between 6 and 9 p.m. All tips and 10 percent of money made between those hours will be donated by Golden Corral to the Boys and Girls Club.
Also, the restaurant is hosting fire prevention poster (for ages 4 to 7) and essay (for ages 8 to 12) contests. Entry forms are available at the restaurant. For more information call Golden Corral manager Craig Dimes at 629-5768.
Store to host model show
The inaugural Model Engineering Show will be held at the Hobby Stop in Seaford on Saturday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Some of the country's most prominent model engineers will display their miniature creations. Items on display will include miniature steam locomotives, miniature steam tractors, model farm machinery and wooden ships.
The Hobby Stop is located on U.S. 13, 1/4 mile north of Wal-Mart on the southbound lane. For more information call 629-3944.

Service Co. plans reunion
Service Trucking Co. will hold a company reunion Sunday, Oct. 10, 1 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club, 310 Virginia Avenue, Seaford. Museums to come to B'ville
Delmarva Museums Mall: A Cultural Shopping Experience, will be Saturday, Oct. 9, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Visitors Center at Bridgeville. Twenty-two museums from all over Delmarva will exhibit, display and sell museum-related merchandise. In conjunction with the Bridgeville Apple-Scrapple Festival, refreshments including scrapple sandwiches will be for sale. For more information, call 337-8877.

Fall car show set for Oct. 16
The Seaford Volunteer Fire Department is hosting its fourth annual Fall Car Show on Saturday, Oct. 16, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the company grounds located at the corner of Atlanta Road and Fleetwood Drive in Seaford. Vehicle registration is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Judging will take place between 1-3 p.m. with the awards presentation at 4 p.m.

Lions tourney rescheduled
The Seaford Lions Club Charity Golf Tournament has been rescheduled for Friday, Oct. 22. Proceeds will help support the club's community projects such as providing eye exams and glasses, scholarships, and assisting other needy and well-deserving causes.
