LHS students help to clean up after auto races at Dover Downs
On Sept. 21, the class of 2003 at Laurel High School went to Dover Downs for the sixth and last time to clean up after the races. Gary Sherwood, who is in charge of the cleaning groups, told class advisors Karen Beck and Dottie Turner that if all his groups cleaned like their group did his job would be very easy. He added that the class of 2003 will be sorely missed. Bobby Hearne has driven the bus for class all six trips. Parents who helped were Holly Timmons, Joy Spicer, Linda Sandy and Tracy Milligan. Money raised over the years has gone to pay for the prom, the new sign at the high school and for the class’s senior trip to Disney World. High school band director Brian Cass has expressed an interest in taking over in this Laurel tradition, which was started in June 1994 by Mike Bickerton and the class of 1998.
