Kiwanis auction Saturday

The Seaford Kiwanis Club will hold its 48th annual auction Saturday, Oct. 4, in the Boys and Girls Club of Western Sussex, Virginia Avenue, Seaford. The event will include a silent auction and a live auction. Both will start at 9:30 a.m. “We will have everything you can imagine,” said Don Kripatis, chairman of the event. Items that the club will sell will include car batteries, bicycles, cases of oil, gift certificates and cars. “There will be a lot of surprises,” Kripatis added. One hundred percent of the proceeds go to community projects sponsored by the service club, Kripatis said. Kiwanis donates money to the Boys and Girls Club, to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital and to Nanticoke Little League. It also will help “anyone in need,” Kripatis said, and buys toys and clothes for children at Christmas.
Kripatis said that the auction is an enjoyable event. “Our auctioneer will be Don Moore, and he is Mr. Fun,” he added. “He really jazzes it up. It is just fun sitting there, watching people buy things.” The Seaford High School Key Club will sell refreshments during the auction. Proceeds will benefit activities sponsored by the Key Club. The annual auction is one of two of the club’s fund-raisers. The 55-member organization also sponsors a basket bingo event to raise money.
