Homecoming set at St. George's
St. George's United Methodist Church, Delmar, will hold its homecoming, Sunday, Oct. 1, at 2 p.m. There will be special singing and speakers.
Trinity to host hymn sing
Trinity Church at Dublin Hill will host a hymn sing on Sunday, Oct. 8, at 2 p.m., featuring Everett Warrington, Ronnie Lynch, Bob Littleton and Dan Walker.
Refreshments will be served.
Missions to be focus of event
The Seaford United Methodist Mission Area, which includes 11 congregations, will sponsor a joint worship celebration: "Jubilee 2000: United In Christian Witness," on Sunday, Oct. 1, at 4 p.m., at St. John's United Methodist Church, Pine and Poplar streets.
The preacher will be the Rev. H. Sterling Green, superintendent of the Dover District of the Peninsula-Delaware Conference of the United Methodist Church. Speakers will include representatives of the Seaford Revival Center Mission and the Sussex Pregnancy Care Center.
Music will be provided by a combined choir, under the direction of David Miller, the choir director at St. John's. Child care will be available. Following the service, a Missions Fair will be held in fellowship hall.
The Seaford Mission area includes the following churches: Asbury, Bethel, Blades, Concord, Gethsemane, John Wesley, Mount Hope, Mount Olivet, St. John's, Wesley and Woodland.
Women's Day services set
Clarence Street Church of God's annual Women's Day Services are to be held Sunday, Oct. 1, at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. The morning speaker will by church member Rebecca Brunson. Speaker for the 5 p.m. service will be the Rev. Diane Brooks, Rhema Life Word Center, Salisbury. Dinner will be served after the evening service. The church is located at 743 East Clarence St., Seaford.
Fall festival planned
The Church of God of Prophecy, US 13 N. and Dorothy Road, Delmar, is holding a fall festival on Saturday, Oct. 7, beginning at 9 a.m.
A yard sale will be featured and food will be available, including oyster sandwiches, crab cakes, soft crabs, homemade ice cream, baked goods, soups, chili, chicken salad, scrapple sandwiches, hamburgers and hot dogs.
Asbury plans homecoming
Asbury United Methodist Church, US 9 near Sussex Tech, will host homecoming services on Oct. 8, at 2 p.m. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Sterling Green, district superintendent.
Music will be provided by Shelly Hudson, the Veasey family and Chick and Darlene Smith. A buffet meal will follow the service.
Homecoming at Portsville set
Portsville United Methodist Church will celebrate its 53rd annual homecoming on Sunday, Oct. 8, at 2 p.m. The church is located 3 miles west of Laurel at the intersection of Portsville Road and Dogwood Lane.
Pastor Rich Walton will officiate. The service will feature music by "The Lights of Home," Tammy Driscoll, the reverends Reed and Ruth Morris, and Sam Hearn.
Immediately following the musical program, dinner will be served in the fellowship hall.
Yom Kippur services planned
The Seaside Jewish Community will hold Yom Kippur services at All Saints church, 11 Olive Ave., Rehoboth Beach. Sunday night service, Oct. 8, will be at 7 p.m.; Monday morning service, Oct. 9, will start at 10 ; Yizkor service at noon; Ne'ilah (Closing the Gates) service will be at 7 p.m. There will be a breaking of the fast at Kupchicks Restaurant on the Bay in Lewes following Ne'ilah service. Speaker to be from Kenya
Jericho Fellowship International welcomes the Rev. Francis Ranogwa of Eldoret, Kenya, as speaker on Oct. 10, 7 p.m., at Mt. Olivet Church, Seaford. Ranogwa is the regional director for Jericho Fellowship in Africa. Ethel Williams will be the master of ceremonies.
