READ-ALOUD training
READ-ALOUD Delaware volunteer training session will be held Tuesday, Sept. 30, at 1 p.m. in the Seaford Public Library, 402 North Porter St., Seaford. Call 856-2527 to sign up for training or for further information. Volunteer readers are needed at various reading sites in Sussex County.

Women’s GOP Club
The Seaford Republican Women’s Club will meet at the home of Sally Higgins, 115 North Hall St., on Thursday, Sept. 25. Social hour will be at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 p.m. The program for the evening will be Seaford’s Chief of Police, Gary Morris, giving us an overview of the work of the Seaford Police and his outlook for the future. Breakfast Benefit
An All-You-Can-Eat Breakfast Benefit will be held at Galestown Community Hall, on Sunday, Sept. 28, 7 to 10 a.m. Sponsored by Ruritan Club.

Acorn Club meeting
The Acorn Club of Seaford will hold its next meeting on Thursday, Sept. 25, at the Seaford Library at 7:30 p.m. Convention highlights will be discussed and new members will be inducted. The club belongs to the General Federation of Women’s Clubs.

Seaford Swimming
The Seaford Swimming Association will hold its annual meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 7, at 7 p.m., in the Coke Lounge of the St. John’s United Methodist Church. All members are invited to attend to hear the annual update as well as offer comments and suggestions on the operation of the pool. All members are encouraged to attend.

Halloween Parade
Seaford Halloween Parade, Wednesday, Oct. 29, 6 p.m.- line up; 7 p.m.- step-off begins, from One Cedar St., Dr. Wolgang’s office parking lot , to High Street, to Arch Street to King Street and ends at Firehouse with party and judging. Sponsored by the Downtown Seaford Association. In case of rain there will not be a parade and the party and judging will start at 7 p.m. at the firehouse.
Caribbean Cruise
Dr. Marie Wolfgang is sponsoring an 11-day cruise to the Southern Caribbean as a fund raiser for The American Cancer Society “Relay for Life.” The group will travel to and from the dock in New York Harbor on a chartered bus. Sailing out of New York on Jan. 25 on the new Norwegian Dawn, the group will visit St. Thomas, Antiqua, Barbados, Grenada, Dominica, and Tortola. Class of 1973 reunion

Christmas & Gift Show
Seaford Department of Parks and Recreation trip to Harrisburg, Pa., for a Christmas & Gift Show will be on Saturday, Dec. 6. Shop at the largest holiday show in the country with more than 500 vendors, with unique gifts priced from $2-$700. See a life-size recreation of an Olde Christmas Village, decorated trees and mantles, 100-foot train display, choral and musical groups, cooking clinics, dance troupe and more. Show tickets are $5. Motor Coach cost is $21. Depart from Seaford at 7 a.m., leave Pennsylvania for home at 5 p.m. with a dinner stop in Lancaster at 6 p.m. Reserve your spot by Friday, Nov. 14.

Christmas Spectacular
Seaford Department of Parks and Recreation trip to Radio City Music Hall “Christmas Spectacular” in New York will be Sunday, Dec. 7. Tickets are $87, which includes ticket to the show and transportation by motor coach. The noon show, lasting approximately 1-1/2 hours. From 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. you will have free time for eating, shopping or sight-seeing. Depart for home at 5:45 p.m. Forty-six tickets are available on a first-come first-serve basis.

Babies and Toddlers
The “Parents As Teachers” program (PAT) invites parents and their children from birth to age three to a FREE “Stay and Play Center” at Seaford Dept. of Parks & Recreation (SDPR) on Virginia Avenue. Sessions will be on Mondays from 10:30 a.m. to noon. (Closed on school holidays.) The Center provides an opportunity for parents and caretakers with young children to play together and discuss any parenting questions with a parent educator. Other services include a lending library of children’s and parenting books and evening group meetings on a variety of topics.
