Seaford CROP Walk recruiting for Oct. 3
The Seaford Ministerium is sponsoring The Seaford Area CROP Walk on Sunday, Oct. 3, at 2 p.m. The 5K/10K Walk will start at the parking lot of West Seaford Elementary School.
CROP (Christian Rural Overseas Program) is a program established by Church World Service. Area Church communities set-up walks where the participants seek pledges for their efforts. All money raised by the participants is given to Church World Service. Seventy-five percent of the money raised is used to fight hunger in more than 80 countries. Some of the areas that are being helped include Kosovo, Hounduras from Hurricane Mitch and mid-west states where tornadoes leveled entire communities. The remaining 25 percent is returned to the community. The Seaford Community Food Closet and the Seaford Revival Center Mission have been chosen as the local organizations to receive the 25 percent portion.
On Sept. 14, a recruiters meeting was held at the Seaford Presbyterian Church. Area churches were asked to send representatives for details and registration materials. For additional information, please contact Eleanor Terrell at 628-1515 or John Blevins at 629-8722.
