Library to host craft demos
Woodburning, glass designing, and quilting will be demonstrated by local artisans this fall at the Laurel Public Library. Stained glass techniques will be presented by Eleanor Stacy on Wednesday, Oct. 18. Wrapping up the series on Saturday, Nov. 4, will be Virginia "Mike" Barton explaining the traditional art of quilting in today's world.

All programs will start at 1 p.m. and last about an hour. For further information call 875-3184.

Class of 1990 plans reunion
The Laurel High School Class of 1990 is planning its 10-year class reunion to be held in November 2000. Organizers are trying to contact all classmates. Anyone who has not been contacted or who knows someone who may not have been contacted may call Alison Hastings at 875-2166 or Kelly Layton at 875-4029.

Class of 1956 plans reunion
The Laurel Class of 1956 will hold its 45th reunion, June 17, 2001, at the Laurel American Legion Home. Although final plans have not been completed, the social hour will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by pictures being taken at 6:30 p.m. and a buffet dinner at 7 p.m. Anyone interested in working with the reunion committee may contact Frank B. Calio at 302-875-3770. Meetings will begin in January.

Class of 1980 plans reunion
The Laurel High School class of 1980 is holding its 20-year class reunion on Oct. 7, at the American Legion Home. Anyone who graduated with this class and did not receive information may contact Jan Otwell at 875-2743.

Attention class of '75
The Laurel class of 1975's 25-year reunion will be Oct. 21 at the American Legion Home. Organizers need assistance locating the following classmates: Debra Correll, Sheila DuPont, Bonnie Elswick Hope, Warda Figgs Cooper, Frances Gallagher, Elwood Horsey, Richard Iriarte, Elton Joyner, Karl Kellam, Mike Kindt, Mike Maddox, Robert Oney, James Parsons, Lester Reed, Alan Smiley, William Snead, Garvena Waples, and Laura Weaver. UMW plan annual bazaar
The annual bazaar sponsored by the United Methodist Women of Christ United Methodist Church, 510 S. Central Ave., Laurel will be Friday, Oct. 6, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. There will be handmade crafts, homemade baked goods and home canned goods.
A luncheon will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and a spaghetti dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. Cost for the dinner is $5 for adults and $3 for children. Prizes include a handmade queen-size quilt and a walnut drop-leaf end table.

Oddfellows plan haunted house
Co-chairmen Jerry Lynch and Mike Allen announce that the eighth annual Cemetery House will be open Oct. 20-21, 27-28 and 30-31. The Cemetery House is located on Delaware 24, next to the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Laurel. Charity Lodge #27, IOOF, sponsors the event. Parking will be provided in the 10th Street lot and transportation to the haunted house will be provided by a hay wagon. Admission is $5 or $4 with a non-perishable food item (for the Good Samaritans); children under age 6 will be admitted free.
Admission includes the hayride, tour of the Cemetery House and a walk through the Haunted Maze.

Library resumes story hour
Story hour for pre-school and kindergarten-age children began at the Laurel Public Library on Tuesday, Sept. 19, at 10:30 a.m. Story hour programs will continue every Tuesday into December.

Library to be closed Sept. 28
The Laurel Public Library will be closed Thursday, Sept. 28, for the staff development day meeting of Sussex County librarians. The library will reopen Friday, Sept. 29, at 10 a.m.
