Tickets for the Harley - Ford Raffle, to benefit the expansion and renovation of Nanticoke Memorial Hospital's Emergency Room, are on sale in a variety of locations, including online.
The grand prize is a 2003 Ford F-150 Harley-Davidson Limited Edition Supercrew Pickup, a 2003 Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail, an enclosed East Tennessee Titan Trailer, and a helmet. All proceeds will be used for the renovation and expansion of the Emergency Room at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital.
Tickets are $20 each and are available at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital Gift Shop, Frederick Ford, and online at www.harleyraffle.org. Order forms are also available at businesses throughout the area. Volunteers are also looking for businesses and events to display the grand prize and sell tickets.

Antique Tractor Show
The First State Antique Tractor Club Greenwood will hold its third annual show on Friday, Sept. 26, from 9 a.m. till 9 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 27, from 9 a.m. till 4 p.m. at Yoder Farms in Greenwood, off Rt. 36. This year’s featured tractor is International Harvest and a large group of Farmall, McCormick and International Antique tractors will be on display. The show is open to all makes and models of antique tractors and farm equipment.
Tractor owners will participate in six different tractor games starting at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. The tractor games have grown in popularity during the past few years. A live auction will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday. A 1918 International 3 H.P. gas engine will be included in the numerous items for the auction. Also, there will be flea market craft demonstrations.
A petting zoo, kids pedal tractor pull and parade will be held on Saturday. Entertainment and good food will be offered both days.
Admission and parking are free. The Yoder Farms in Greenwood is located on Memory Road, off Rt. 36 at Deep Grass and Hunting Quarter Intersection.
The Warren L. and Charles C. Allen, Jr. CHEER Community Center will be celebrating its fourth anniversary on Sept. 27. The dinner dance will be held at the CHEER Community Center located at the intersection of Route 9 and Sand Hill Road, just outside of Georgetown.
The evening begins with cocktails at 6 p.m. with dinner following at 7 p.m. The delectable dinner menu consists of baked ham, fried chicken or stuffed pork loin entrees.
The dance will begin at 8 p.m. A local favorite, The Cruzers, will entertain with music for all ages including oldies, country and rock. Tickets are $30 per person or $50 per couple. The Eastern Shore Chapter of Buckmasters will be holding their 11th Annual Banquet on Saturday, Sept. 27, at the Delmarva Convention center in Delmar.
All money raised during the evening will benefit the Buckmasters American Deer Foundation. Much of the money raised is used here on the Shore.
The evening will begin with cocktails at 5 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. Live auctions, raffles and door prizes. Nearly 20 guns will be given away during the evening.
Tickets are $40 and include a one-year membership to Buckmasters. A spouse can attend for $25 and includes all of the festivities for the evening including dinner. A special sponsorship ticket is available again this year for $200 and includes membership, two dinners, a special sponsor package of gifts, a chance on a special sponsor only rifle and a raffle ticket package. Minner to speak
The 40th District Democrat Executive Committee is pleased to announce that Governor Ruth Ann Minner will be the keynote speaker at their annual dinner/auction on Saturday, Sept. 27, at the Laurel American Legion Post #19. Driver Safety Course
An AARP Driver Safety Course for people 50 and over will be given from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 6 and 7 at the Methodist Manor House, 1001 Middleford Road, Seaford.
The two-day program, sponsored by the American Association for REtired Persons, stresses how older drivers may operate vehicles safely.
Upon completion of the program, participants receive a certificate entitling them to a reduction in their auto insurance.

Federalsburg Basket Bingo
A Basket Bingo will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 24, at the Federalsburg VFW. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Games begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Pot Luck Supper
On Saturday, Sept. 20, Homeless Cat Helpers, Inc., will host a potluck supper for cat lovers of all ages (children through seniors) at the Parks & Recreation Community Room, Virginia Avenue, in Seaford, from 5 to 8 p.m. If you love all cats (pets, strays, and ferals), and would like to meet and share with us, bring your favorite food dish and your favorite kitty pictures. Come cat-chat and see how you can get involved in cat rescue work.
HCH coordinates reduced cost spay/neuter programs, adoption fairs, vaccination clinics, and various fundraiser events, and is looking to spread the news of its work as well as find more folks willing to help homeless cats and kittens. Bring your desire to help reduce cat overpopulation and the euthanizing of healthy cats and kittens, and HCH will look for ways for you to participate.

GOP Women’s Club
Kelly Gates, Republican candidate for Lieutenant Governor, will be the featured speaker when the Sussex County Republican Women’s Club begins its fall schedule of luncheon meetings on Sept. 24 at the Sussex Pines Country Club, Georgetown. The noon luncheon will be preceded by a business meeting at 11 a.m. Ms. Gates has been active with and served on the board of the Delaware Federation of Republican Women and this is her first try for elected office. She lives in New Castle County.
Also attending the meeting will be the Club’s two 2003 scholarship winners, Catherine Smoot of Greenwood and Michelle Kinzer of Millsboro. Both graduated from the James H. Groves Adult High School in Georgetown and each received a $1,000 scholarship to continue their education. Basket Bingo October 9
The Employee Activity Committee of Nanticoke Health Services will hold a Longaberger Basket Bingo on Thursday, Oct. 9, starting at 7 p.m. at the Seaford Moose, located on Route 13A, in Seaford.
The evening will consist of 20 exciting games and will feature several basket combinations including the 2003 Christmas set, Bouquet basket, American Crafts Baking Dish and basket, along with several regular line baskets as prizes.
Advance tickets are $20 per person, $25 at the door. Advance ticket includes a chance to win the Hostess Large Hamper and the Hostess Christmas basket or one of the eight door prizes.
