Library exhibit features carvings from Mexico
The Laurel Public Library now has wood carvings from Oaxaca, Mexico, on display, on loan from The Galleries at Salisbury State University.
The carvings will be on display through September.

Complimentary school event passes available for seniors
Senior citizen complimentary passes to all district events are available at the new administration office, 1160 S. Central Ave., Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for individuals 62 years of age and over who live in the Laurel School District.

Dinner this Saturday will benefit Rep. Lee
An all-you-can-eat “Pig Pickin’” dinner will be held Saturday, Sept. 11, 4 to 7 p.m., at the Laurel Fire Hall. Tickets are $12.
Sponsor is Friends for Lee, a fund-raising group for state Rep. Biff Lee. Call 875-7450 for tickets and information.

Vendors wanted for Bethel's Heritage Day, Oct. 2
Bethel Heritage Day will be held Oct. 2. Spaces are available for antique dealers, crafters, memorabilia dealers and food vendors. Call 875-5425 for more information.
Newly-formed club to hold basket bingo party
The Ross Point Improvement Club is holding regular monthly meetings at the St. John AME Zion Church hall on the third Wednesday of the month, at 7 p.m.
On Sept. 25, at 2 p.m., a Basket Bingo Party and social will be held in the church hall, sponsored by the club.

Laurel mayor and council will meet Sept. 20
The Laurel mayor and council meeting scheduled for Monday, Sept. 6, was cancelled. The next regular meeting will be Monday, Sept. 20, 7 p.m. in the Chambers of Mayor and Council located in the Municipal Building on Poplar and Mechanic streets.

Lioness Club to sponsor defensive driving course
The Laurel Lioness Club will sponsor an advanced defensive driving course on Thursday, Sept. 23.
The class will be held at Centenary Church in Laurel from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Cost will be $17 per person.
