Support group meets
The Sussex Fibromyalgia Support Group will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 11, at 7 p.m. at the Methodist Manor House, Wesley Wellness Center, Inservice Room, Seaford. Prostate cancer testing
Nanticoke Memorial Hospital will provide PSA screenings on Thursday, Sept. 27. The blood tests will be offered adjacent to the main lobby of Nanticoke Memorial Hospital from 8 a.m. till 4:30 p.m. The fee for the test will be $5. Results will be mailed approximately two weeks after the event. Prostate cancer is the most frequently occurring cancer in men. Between 1980 and 1990, prostate cancer incidence increased 65 percent. It is believed that this increase was the result of improved early detection. There is expected to be a further increase related to the use of the prostate specific antigen blood test. Safe Sitter classes
Safe Sitter classes for girls and boys aged 11 to 13 will be offered at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. The two"part course will be held from 8:30 a.m. till 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 6 and 13. The Safe Sitter program is a medically"accurate instructional series that teaches youngsters how to handle emergencies when caring for younger children. The cost is $25.
