Seats open for Branson trip
The Nanticoke Senior Center is sponsoring a trip to the Branson (Mo.) Musicfest Oct. 9-14. Cost is $839 per person, which includes bus trip to and from BWI Airport, round trip flight to Branson, motor coach transportation with guide throughout the stay, six days and five nights at the new Ramada Inn, five breakfasts and five dinners and six shows including Shoji Tabuchi, Lawrence Welk Theatre, the Osmond Brothers, Presley's Music Show and Doug Gabriel's show.
All hotel taxes, baggage handling, sky-cap tips at the airport, and gratuities for meals are also included. There will be free time in Branson for shopping and sightseeing. For details, call the Nanticoke Senior Center at 629-4939.

Auto show to be Sept. 16
The Seaford Volunteer Fire Department is hosting its fifth annual Fall Car Show on Saturday, Sept. 16, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the company grounds at the corner of Atlanta Road and Fleetwood Drive in Seaford.
The event is open to antiques, classics, street rods, pro-street car and trucks, imports and motorcycles. Dash plaques will be given to the first 150 entries with Top 40 awards proportionate to entrants in each category, best of show and people's choice awards. Musical entertainment and food vendors will be on hand all day.
Vehicle registration is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Judging will take place between 1 and 3 p.m. with the awards presentation at 4 p.m. Vehicle registration is $5. Spectator admission is $1 with children under 12 who are accompanied by an adult admitted free. Rain date is Oct. 7. Additional information may be obtained by contacting Bill Mulvaney at 629-6934.

Fall foliage trip planned
The Widowed Persons Service is sponsoring a trip to Skyline Drive and Walton's Mountain Oct. 27 to 30. Participants will spend one night in Charlottesville, Va., and two nights in Fredericksburg, Va. Bethel plans Heritage Day
Bethel Historical Society's 20th annual Heritage Day will be Saturday, Oct. 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The day will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the traditional parade on Main Street. Scheduled events include a decorated bike contest with prizes, and returning by popular request - a pet contest with prizes. There will also be a petting zoo, pony rides, games for children and of course, music and refreshments. Vendors will include antique dealers, crafts people and demonstrators.

Phillips to hold fund-raiser
The third annual Friends of Vance Phillips' crab and watermelon fest fund-raiser will take place Saturday, Aug. 26, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Cypress Point in the Trap Pond State Park in Laurel. Jimmy's Grille will cater the event.

Run For Kids to be Aug. 27
ABATE of Delaware, a nonprofit, statewide alliance of motorcycle enthusiasts, is sponsoring a "Run For Kids" Sunday, Aug. 27. A donation of a new toy or $10 per person will benefit the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware and the duPont Hospital for Children.
Motorcyclists will leave Sussex County from The Oasis, Laurel, at 9 a.m., Kent County from the Smyrna Rest Area at 10:30 a.m. and Prices Corner at 1 p.m. for the parade to the Ronald McDonald House and duPont Hospital for Children. Heritage Trail bike tour set
The third annual Greenwood Trust Heritage Bike Tour will take place Sunday, Sept. 3, starting at the Western Sussex Boys & Girls Club, Seaford, at 8:30 a.m. Cyclists can choose from 15-, 30- and 100-kilometer routes. The first 400 who register will receive T-shirts and water bottles.

Golf tourney to be Oct. 6
The second annual Seaford Lions Club Charity Golf Tournament will be Friday, Oct. 6. Proceeds will help support the club's community projects.
