Bible school at Mt. Zion set
Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Laurel, will hold vacation Bible school Aug. 11 through 15. The theme will be Treasures of the Nile. Sessions will meet 9 a.m. to noon. For details, call 875-3628.

School at Lutheran church set
Christ Lutheran Church, Seaford, will hold its vacation Bible school, Rancho Roundup, July 28 through Aug. 1. Children ages 3 to 12 are invited to participate. Classes will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. To register, or for more information, call Amy Brown at 629-9755.

Gospel group to perform
March Forth, a southern gospel quartet from south-central Pennsylvania, will perform at Grace Baptist Church, 805 Atlanta Road, Seaford, at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10. March Forth was formed on March 4, 1999. Its first concert was March 4, 2000. Members are Doug Couch, Rick Hudson, Daniel Harmon and Floyd Foster. Fighting drugs with revival
Everlasting Hope Ministries will hold its tenth annual tent services Monday, Aug. 11, through Sunday, Aug. 17, on the grounds of the Booker Street Church of God, Georgetown. Services will begin at 7 nightly except on Sunday, when they will begin at 5 p.m. The purpose of these meetings is to encourage individuals whose lives have been adversely affected by drugs and/or alcohol. On Aug. 16, the church will hold its ninth annual Community Anti-Drug Rally and March. The march will begin at 11 a.m. at the church on Booker Street and travel through Georgetown. Reunion Service Aug. 10
Mt. Pisgah AME Church, Townsend Street, Laurel, will host its second School-Mate Reunion Service Sunday, Aug. 10, 4 p.m. The theme is “Freedom, Progress and Prosperity in the New Millennium.” All Paul Lawrence Dunbar alumni and other worshippers are welcome.

VBS for Special People
The Bible School for Special People program at Christ Lutheran Church, Seaford, will host vacation Bible school Aug. 18 through 22, 6 to 8 p.m., for adults with developmental disabilities. A free dinner will be available to students. This year’s theme is “Talking to God about My Feelings.” There will be a closing program at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, open to the public. Youth Conference

Mt. Olivet Preschool
Mt. Olivet Preschool will begin its fall session Wednesday, Sept. 3, with morning classes on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Rev. Jeanne W. Kirby
The Rev. Jeanne W. Kirby, Rector of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Seaford, will be leaving this month to gather for a Diocese of Delaware Clergy Retreat in Iona, Scotland, located in Argyll and the Western Isles. The Episcopal Diocese of Delaware has a companion relationship with the Episcopal Diocese of Argyll and the Isles. Being a descendent of the Moffat and Ross Clans (same Ross as Gov. Ross), Mrs. Kirby is looking forward to visiting her ancestral home for the first time. They will remain on Iona where the Rev. Dr. Philip Newell will lead a program on Celtic Spirituality including a pilgrimage around the islands with the community of Iona Abbey.

Youth on the March
Sunday, Aug. 10, at 9 a.m., will be Youth Sunday at Woodland United Methodist Church. Corey Murphy, Youth Pastor at Bayshore Community Church in Gumboro, will be sharing in music and bringing the message with special emphasis on the younger generation. The church is located by the Woodland Ferry. An invitation is extended to the young and to those who are young at heart to share in the special service. For details contact Pastor Bob at 875-9124.

Victory Tabernacle
Victory Tabernacle Church of God will hold a Yard Sale on Saturday, Aug. 16, from 8 a.m. to ??. Rain date is Sept. 6. The church is located on Alternate 13, going toward Laurel, on left past Inland Car Sales.

St. John’s Thrift Shop
St. John’s Church Community Thrift Shop is having its Grand Opening and first Community Yard Sale on Saturday, Aug. 16, from 7 a.m. till 2 p.m. at 259 N. Conwell St. in Seaford. The yard sale will be in the church parking lot just behind the thrift shop. Rain date is Saturday, Aug. 23. St. John’s Church is located on Pine and Poplar streets. There is a $5 charge for a table or table space for the yard sale. All thrift shop sales will be one-half price for clothing items only. Call the church office 629-9466 for more information. The thrift shop sells quality clothing, furniture, household goods and toys at extremely reasonable prices. The thrift shop was designed to offer monthly vouchers for clothing and food to those who incomes are at poverty level or below; free furniture and clothing to victims of fire and to recently released prisoners in good standing. The shop offers free coffee to those in the Coffee Nookery who want to come and talk. Proceeds go for scholarships to St. John’s Pre-school; for Christian counseling and to help those in need of food, fuel and medicine.

Buddy Farris Jr.
Buddy Farris Jr. to speak at Christ Evangelistic Church, Laurel, on Aug. 17, 7 p.m. Buddy was a Virginia State Trooper that was killed on I95 and was pronounced dead for 23 minutes.
