My sister, Corliss, and her grandson, AJ, and I spent the day at Chincoteague for the pony penning. It's amazing how many people travel from all over the Untied States for this annual affair. The ponies were so cute. I wanted to come back the next day to buy one at the auction they have on Thursday. I talked about it all the way home should I take off or should I not? But when I got home and received my property tax bill, that made up my mind. I did pick a pony out that I would have loved to have a black and white paint. And of course, I had good taste: he went for the big bucks, a little out of my price range. We met up with my daughter, Monica, and her husband, Scott, and my grandsons, Seth and Cody there. They were spending a few days for the pony penning. They go almost every year and the boys really enjoy camping out.

Marian Lee Gordy was given a surprise birthday party on Saturday, July 28, by her children at the home of her daughter, Cindy. Her family and friends helped Marian Lee celebrate her special birthday.

Congratulations to Kasey Marie Newton and Brad William Joseph on their marriage Friday, July 20, 2001. Kasey is the daughter of Mark Newton and Janet and Michael Hanulak. Brad is the son of Wanda Morgan of Salisbury. A reception was held at the home of her grandmother, Delores Outten-Jones. Best of wishes to both of you in the life you are starting together.
